🔍 Understand how GHL and SearchAtlas work together

GoHighLevel (GHL) is the client delivery platform, while SearchAtlas provides SEO analysis, recommendations, reporting, and optimization tools. Changes made in SearchAtlas do not automatically change every setting in GHL. Likewise, changes to a client's website, domain, or GHL account may require you to review the related SearchAtlas project.

📝 Before making changes

  1. Confirm the client, website, and GHL sub-account you are working on.
  2. Record the requested change and its expected outcome.
  3. Confirm that you have the required access to both SearchAtlas and the client's GHL account.
  4. Check whether the change affects tracking, website content, local listings, keywords, or reporting.

🌐 Handle website or domain changes

When a client changes their domain, website, or page structure in GHL, open the corresponding project in SearchAtlas and take the following steps:

  1. Go to Projects in the left navigation and select the client's project.
  2. Check the Project Settings to confirm the tracked URL matches the client's current live domain. If the domain has changed, update the tracked URL to the new domain so that all subsequent data is collected against the correct site.
  3. After updating the URL, open the Site Auditor and run a new crawl. Review the crawl results for broken links, redirect chains, or missing pages that may have resulted from the migration.
  4. Open the Rank Tracker and confirm that the keyword list still targets pages on the new domain. Update any page-level targets that now point to old URLs.
  5. If the client moved to a new domain and you need to preserve the historical data separately, create a new project for the new domain rather than overwriting the existing one. Keep the original project in read-only reference mode so historical comparisons remain available.

📊 Review SEO data after updates

After a significant website or GHL change, review the following areas in SearchAtlas before confirming the work is complete:

  • Rank Tracker: Check whether tracked keywords show ranking changes consistent with the site update. Look for any keywords that dropped to "not ranking" — this may indicate a page was removed or a URL changed without a proper redirect.
  • Site Auditor: Confirm the crawl error count has not increased. Pay particular attention to 404 errors and redirect issues introduced by the change.
  • Organic Keywords report: Review whether indexed pages and estimated traffic have shifted in the direction expected from the change.
  • Reporting dashboard: Update any client-facing reports to reflect the change date so that data before and after the update can be distinguished clearly.

📍 Review local SEO information

For clients using GHL with local SEO services, review their local SEO settings separately from website settings:

  1. Open the client's GBP (Google Business Profile) project in SearchAtlas and confirm the business name, address, phone number, and website URL are still accurate following any GHL account changes.
  2. Check the Local Citations section for any listings that reference the old domain or outdated contact details, and flag them for correction.
  3. Review any pending review-response tasks or local recommendation items and confirm they are still relevant after the change.

✅ Confirm and communicate changes

  1. Verify that the requested change is reflected in the appropriate SearchAtlas project settings, crawl data, and rank tracking targets.
  2. Note the date the website or domain changed in any client-facing report so historical data is interpreted correctly.
  3. Tell the client what was reviewed, what was updated, and whether any follow-up crawl or ranking check is scheduled.
  4. If you encounter an error updating a project URL, cannot run a new crawl, or are unsure which project corresponds to the correct GHL sub-account, contact support with the client name, website URL, GHL sub-account name, the specific change requested, and the exact error message or screen where you are stuck.
