📚 What is a DKN?
A Domain Knowledge Network (DKN) organizes your site’s topics, pages, and related knowledge for SEO workflows. Duplicate or overlapping nodes can make the network harder to manage and may affect topic mapping.
🔍 Why duplicate nodes may appear
Duplicates can occur when similar pages or topics are interpreted as separate entities during generation, rebuilding, or synchronization. In some cases, a failed or interrupted process may leave existing nodes in place while creating new ones.
This does not always indicate a problem with your website. It may reflect how the system currently determines whether a page or topic already exists.
🧹 Request a DKN reset or cleanup
There is no general bulk-delete or full-reset action that customers should use without assistance. A reset can remove the current network, so it must be reviewed before it is performed.
- Open OTTO SEO from the left sidebar.
- Open Knowledge Base and select the affected project or site.
- Record the duplicate node names, related URLs, and any recent generation, rebuild, or synchronization activity.
- Open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and request either a full DKN reset or duplicate-node cleanup.
State whether you want to preserve the existing network, remove only selected duplicates, or start with a completely empty DKN. This helps the team choose the safest option.
⚠️ Before requesting a full reset
- A full reset removes the project’s current DKN data and cannot be treated as a simple undo.
- Confirm the correct project and domain before approving the reset.
- Pause planned rebuilds or synchronization until the request is reviewed.
- Keep a list of important nodes or URLs that should be retained after cleanup.
🔄 After cleanup or rebuilding
After the DKN is reset or cleaned, allow the next generation to finish before starting another rebuild or synchronization. Review the resulting nodes for overlapping topics and confirm that important pages are represented once.
If nodes disappear after a rebuild or a “Sync with Brand Vault” action shows an error, do not repeatedly retry the action. Record what happened and request a review so the network can be checked before another operation.
💬 Get help with duplicate nodes
Include the project name, domain, affected node names, related URLs, approximate time of the issue, and the action that preceded it. This information helps the team determine whether targeted cleanup or a complete reset is appropriate.
