🔍 What This Error Means
When you connect your Google Search Console (GSC) account to Search Atlas and see the message "Your connected GSC Account doesn't have any project associated", it does not mean your GSC account is disconnected or your credentials are wrong. It means Search Atlas could not find a domain property in your GSC account to link to a project.
Search Atlas requires a domain-level GSC property (for example, sc-domain:example.com) to activate a project. URL prefix properties (for example, https://www.example.com/ or https://example.com/) are verified in GSC but are not compatible with project activation in Search Atlas. This is the most common cause of this error.
⚠️ URL Prefix vs. Domain Properties: Key Difference
Google Search Console offers two property types:
- URL prefix property — covers only URLs that begin with a specific prefix, such as
https://www.example.com/. Verification is done via HTML file, meta tag, Google Analytics, or Google Tag Manager. - Domain property — covers all URLs across all subdomains and protocols (http, https, www, non-www) for a root domain. Verification is done via DNS TXT record only.
Search Atlas connects to GSC at the domain property level to ensure full site coverage and accurate data aggregation. A verified URL prefix property alone will not satisfy this requirement.
✅ How to Resolve the Error
To resolve this error, you need to add a domain property in Google Search Console for your root domain and complete DNS TXT record verification. Once your domain property is verified in GSC, Search Atlas will be able to detect it and activate your project.
To add a domain property, go to Google Search Console at search.google.com/search-console, sign in with the same Google account connected to Search Atlas, and add a new property selecting Domain as the property type. Enter your root domain without any prefix (for example, example.com). Google will provide a DNS TXT record — add this record through your domain registrar or DNS provider (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Cloudflare). DNS propagation can take a few minutes up to 72 hours, but verification usually completes within an hour.
Once GSC confirms your domain property is verified, return to Search Atlas. The platform should detect the domain property and allow your project to activate. If the error persists after your domain property is verified in GSC, please have the following information ready when you contact us:
