Search Atlas uses two separate quota systems that are often confused with each other: OTTO site quota and site audit quota. Upgrading one does not affect the other. If you are seeing a 'quota full' error after an upgrade, this article will help you identify which quota you actually hit and what to do next.
📋 What Is OTTO Site Quota?
Your OTTO site quota controls how many websites you can activate and manage inside the OTTO SEO automation tool.
- Each site you connect to OTTO and set live counts as one OTTO site slot.
- Removing a site from OTTO frees up that slot for a different domain.
📊 What Is Site Audit Quota?
Your site audit quota controls how many websites you can add to the site audit section of the platform. This section powers your site crawls, technical audits, rank tracking, and keyword data.
- Each domain you add uses one site audit slot.
- Site audit slots and OTTO slots are tracked independently.
- Having an available OTTO slot does not mean you have an available site audit slot, and vice versa.
⚠️ Why the 'Quota Full' Error Appears
The 'quota full' error appears when you attempt to add or activate a site and there are no remaining slots in the specific quota that action requires. The two most common scenarios are:
- You upgraded your OTTO site quota but the error is in the site audit section. Adding a domain to site audits requires a site audit slot, not an OTTO slot. Upgrading OTTO quota will not resolve this error.
- You upgraded your site audit quota but the error is in OTTO. Activating a domain inside OTTO requires an OTTO slot. Upgrading site audit quota will not resolve this error.
🔍 How to Check Which Quota You Have Hit
To identify which quota is exhausted, compare the number of domains you currently have active in each area against the limits shown on your plan. Check OTTO and site audits separately — they are tracked independently. Whichever area has no remaining slots is the quota you have hit.
✅ How to Resolve a Quota-Full Error
Once you have identified which quota is full, you have two options:
- Free up a slot: Remove a domain you no longer need from the relevant section (OTTO or site audits) to make room for the new one.
- Upgrade the correct quota: Make sure you are upgrading the quota that matches the section where the error appears. Upgrading your OTTO quota resolves OTTO-related errors; upgrading your site audit quota resolves site audit errors. Upgrading the wrong quota will not clear the error.
