πŸ” What Find Publishers Does

In the Site Catalog, the Find Publishers button takes the site you are working on and searches for publishers that fit it. It does this by applying the Relevant for filter automatically, so your results focus on publishers that match your site's topic instead of the full catalog.

When it works, the publisher list refreshes and the Relevant for filter shows your site as selected.

⚠️ What You Might See

Some customers report that clicking Find Publishers appears to do nothing. Typical signs include:

  • The page does not change and the publisher list does not refresh.
  • The Relevant for filter is not filled in.
  • No loading indicator appears after you click.
  • If you open your browser's developer tools (for example, Chrome DevTools), the Console tab shows: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set properties of null (setting 'value').

🧠 Why This Happens

That console message means the page tried to fill in the Relevant for field before that field was ready on the screen. The search then stops before it starts, which is why nothing happens and no publisher search is sent.

This can be caused by:

  • The page not having fully finished loading when you clicked the button.
  • An outdated copy of the page stored in your browser (cached files).
  • A browser extension, such as an ad blocker or privacy tool, interfering with the page.
  • No site or project being selected, so the filter has nothing to apply.
  • An issue on our side with the page itself, which our team needs to look into.

βœ… How to Fix It

Work through these steps in order. Most customers are back up and running after the first few.

  1. Confirm your site is selected. Make sure the correct site or project is chosen in the platform before opening the Site Catalog.
  2. Wait for the page to finish loading. Let the Site Catalog and its filters fully appear, then click Find Publishers once.
  3. Refresh the page. Reload the Site Catalog and try again.
  4. Do a hard refresh. On Windows or Linux press Ctrl + Shift + R. On Mac press Cmd + Shift + R. This forces your browser to load the latest version of the page.
  5. Clear your browser cache. In your browser settings, clear cached images and files, then sign in again if asked.
  6. Try a private or incognito window. If Find Publishers works there, an extension or stored data is likely the cause.
  7. Turn off extensions. Temporarily disable ad blockers, privacy tools, and script blockers, then reload the page.
  8. Update or switch browsers. Make sure your browser is up to date, or try another current browser such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.

πŸ› οΈ A Workaround While You Wait

If Find Publishers still does not respond, you can apply the filter yourself:

  1. Open the Site Catalog.
  2. Find the Relevant for filter.
  3. Select your site manually.
  4. Apply the filters to see matching publishers.

If the Relevant for field is missing or will not open, that is useful information for our team, so make a note of it.

πŸ“‹ What to Share If the Issue Continues

If the steps above do not help, our team may need a few details to investigate quickly. Having these ready will save time:

  • The site or project you were working in.
  • The browser and version you use, and whether you are on Windows or Mac.
  • Whether the problem also happens in an incognito window.
  • A screenshot of the Console tab in DevTools showing the error message.
  • The steps you took right before clicking Find Publishers.

To open the Console in Chrome, right-click the page, choose Inspect, and then select the Console tab.

πŸ’‘ Tips to Avoid This in the Future

  • Keep your browser updated.
  • Let pages fully load before clicking action buttons.
  • Refresh the platform after a long period of inactivity.
  • Allow the Search Atlas platform in your extension settings if you use an ad blocker.
