π Overview
In AI Visibility, Search Atlas tracks how AI platforms answer the prompts you are monitoring. To see the captured answer, open a project, go to Topics & Queries, expand a topic, and click Analyze on an analyzed prompt. The AI Response section in the drawer shows the full answer text Search Atlas stored from its most recent check, which can still differ from what you see when you type the same prompt into an AI tool yourself.
π§ Where to Find the AI Response
- Open AI Visibility from the main navigation.
- Select your project, open the Topics & Queries tab, and expand a topic to see its tracked prompts.
- Click Analyze on the prompt you want to review, or click the prompt text if it has already been analyzed. Prompts that have not been analyzed yet cannot be opened.
- Click Analyze.
- In the drawer, the AI Response section shows the answer captured for that prompt. Use the platform tabs to switch between platforms, and click the section header if you need to collapse or expand it.
π What the AI Response Section Shows
The AI Response section shows the full answer text an AI platform returned when Search Atlas last ran your prompt. Use the platform tabs to see each platform's answer separately.
- The answer text the AI generated for your prompt at the time of the check.
- Brand and competitor mentions are measured in the drawer's visibility and share-of-voice charts, not highlighted inside the AI Response text.
- Sources and citations appear in the separate Citation Sources section below AI Response, not inside the answer text.
- Platform tabs above the answer let you switch platforms, because different AI platforms often respond differently to the same prompt. The tabs shown depend on the platforms your project tracks.
The AI Response section shows the full answer text Search Atlas stored, so you can read what the platform said. Visibility, competitor, and source analysis are shown in separate sections of the same drawer.
β Why You May Not See the Full Response
If the response looks shorter than expected or seems cut off, one of the following is usually the reason:
- The answer is in a scrollable box. Long answers are limited to about 400 pixels in height, so scroll inside the box to read the rest. The whole answer is there.
- The Analyze drawer also shows visibility, competitor, and citation analysis, but the AI Response section itself is the full stored answer, not a highlighted excerpt.
- Answers change between checks. AI platforms do not give identical answers every time. The response you see is a snapshot from the most recent check, so it may not match what you get when you test the prompt manually.
- Context differs. A manual test can be affected by your chat history, location, account settings, or personalization. Search Atlas runs prompts without that personal context, so results can differ.
- The check has not finished. If a prompt was just added or a refresh is still running, the response may be empty or incomplete until processing completes.
- The platform returned a short answer. Sometimes the AI itself gives a brief reply or declines to answer, and what you see is the complete response.
π οΈ How to Get a Clearer View
- Scroll inside the AI Response box to read the whole text. Click the AI Response header only if the section is collapsed.
- Refresh your browser. Reload the page to clear display glitches, especially after a recent update to the prompt.
- Check the date of the response. Confirm the check completed. If it is still processing, wait a few minutes and reopen the prompt.
- Compare platforms. If your project tracks more than one AI platform, review each one separately, because they can return very different answers.
- Review the sources. Use the cited sources to understand why the AI answered the way it did and where your brand could be better represented.
- Try a wider browser window. A narrow window or high zoom level can hide parts of the layout. Reset the zoom to 100% and try again.
π‘ Tips for Using AI Responses Effectively
- Look for patterns, not single answers. Because AI answers vary, trends across multiple checks are more reliable than one response.
- Write prompts the way customers ask. Natural, specific phrases produce answers that better reflect real buyer questions.
- Note who is mentioned. If competitors appear and you do not, examine the cited sources to find content opportunities.
- Track changes over time. Revisit the same prompt after you publish or update content to see whether your visibility improves.
π Frequently Asked Questions
Is the response in Search Atlas the same as what I see in the AI tool? Not always. AI platforms can vary their answers from one request to the next and may tailor them to the person asking. Search Atlas shows the answer captured during its own check.
Why is my brand not mentioned in the response? The AI may not consider your brand relevant to that prompt yet. Review the sources it cited and consider improving your content and authority for that topic.
Why is the response empty? The check may still be processing, or the platform may not have returned an answer. Wait a few minutes, refresh, and check again.
Can I see older responses? If your prompt has been checked more than once, review its history in the analysis view to compare how answers have changed.
