π Overview
If your Search Atlas account has been deactivated, you may want to remove OTTO from your Webflow website. You may also see a message asking you to sign up again when you try to log in. This is expected for a deactivated account. You do not need to log in to Search Atlas to remove the OTTO script. This guide shows you how to do it directly in Webflow.
β Why You Need to Remove It Yourself
The OTTO script is stored in your Webflow project settings, which you control. Because it lives inside your own site, the removal has to be done from your Webflow account. Removing it is quick and does not affect the rest of your site content.
- You do not need an active Search Atlas subscription to remove the script.
- You only need access to your Webflow project with permission to edit site settings.
- Removing the script will stop OTTO from running on your site.
π Before You Start
- Make sure you are logged in to Webflow with an account that has Site Settings access (usually the site owner or an admin).
- Have a few minutes available to publish your site after making the change.
- Optional: copy your current custom code into a text file as a backup, in case you need to restore other scripts by accident.
π οΈ Step-by-Step: Remove the OTTO Script in Webflow
- Log in to Webflow and open your Dashboard.
- Find the website where OTTO was installed and open its Site Settings.
- Select the Custom Code tab.
- Look in the Head Code section first. Find the script snippet that references OTTO or Search Atlas.
- Delete only that script snippet. Leave any other code, such as Google Analytics or other tools, exactly as it is.
- Check the Footer Code section as well, in case the script was added there.
- Click Save Changes.
- Click Publish and publish to all of your domains. The change does not go live until you publish.
π Check Page-Level Custom Code
If you or a teammate added the script to a specific page, it will not appear in Site Settings. To check:
- Open the Designer for your site.
- Open the Pages panel and hover over a page.
- Click the gear icon to open Page Settings.
- Scroll to Custom Code and look for the OTTO or Search Atlas script.
- Remove it if you find it, then save and publish again.
β How to Confirm the Script Is Gone
- Open your live website in a browser.
- Right-click the page and choose View Page Source.
- Press Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F on Mac) and search for otto and searchatlas.
- If nothing related to OTTO appears, the script has been removed.
If you still see the script, clear your browser cache or try a private browsing window. Then confirm that you published your site after saving.
π‘ Common Questions
- Can Search Atlas remove the script for me? The script is installed in your Webflow project, so the removal needs to be done from your Webflow account. The steps above take only a few minutes.
- Why does the login page ask me to sign up? This usually means the account is deactivated. It does not prevent you from removing the script from your site.
- Will removing the script break my website? No. Deleting only the OTTO snippet does not affect your pages, design, or other integrations. Your site will simply no longer load OTTO.
- I can't find the script. What should I do? Check both Head Code and Footer Code, then check page-level code. If a developer or agency set up your site, they may have added it in a different place.
- I don't have access to Webflow settings. Ask the site owner or a Webflow admin to grant you access, or ask them to follow the steps in this article.
π Next Steps
- Remove the script from Head Code, Footer Code, and any page-level code.
- Save and publish your site.
- Verify the removal using View Page Source.
