π Overview
If you want a clear list of the problems on your website and what to do about them, the Site Audit is the place to start. It scans your site, flags technical SEO issues, and suggests fixes. You can then download the results as a report to save, share with your team, or hand to a developer.
This article walks you through running the audit, finding the issues and suggested fixes, and downloading the report.
β Before You Start
- Make sure you are logged in to your Search Atlas account.
- Confirm that the website you want to check has been added to your account as a project or site.
- Have the full website address (domain) ready, for example yourwebsite.com.
π Step 1: Run a Site Audit
- Log in to the Search Atlas platform.
- Select your project or website from the project selector, or add it if it is not there yet.
- Open the Site Auditor tool from the main navigation menu.
- Start a new audit for your website. If an audit has already run, you can use the latest results or start a fresh one.
- Wait for the scan to finish. Smaller sites usually finish quickly, and larger sites with many pages take longer. You can leave the page and come back later.
Tip: Menu names and button labels can vary slightly as we update the platform. If you do not see an exact label, look for the closest match.
π οΈ Step 2: Review Issues and Suggested Fixes
When the audit completes, you will see an overview of your site's health and a list of detected issues. Here is what you will usually find:
- Issue name: a short description of what was found, such as missing page titles, broken links, or slow-loading pages.
- Severity or priority: how important the issue is, so you know what to fix first.
- Affected pages: the specific pages where the issue appears.
- Recommended fix: plain-language guidance on how to resolve the issue.
Click an issue to see more detail, including the pages it affects and the suggested way to fix it.
π₯ Step 3: Download the Report
- Stay on the Site Audit results page for your website.
- Look for an Export, Download, or Report option, usually near the top of the page.
- Choose the format you want if you are given a choice. Available formats, such as PDF or spreadsheet, may vary.
- Confirm the download. The file will be saved to your computer, usually in your Downloads folder.
Open the file to check that it includes the issues and suggested fixes you want. If you need a shorter version, you can filter the audit results by issue type or priority before exporting, where filters are available.
π‘ How to Use the Report
- Start with high-priority issues. These usually have the biggest effect on your site's performance in search.
- Share it with your team. Send the file to a developer, designer, or content writer so each person can handle the fixes in their area.
- Track progress. Save each report and compare it with later audits to see how your site has improved.
- Re-run the audit after making changes. This confirms the issues are resolved and updates your report.
β Common Questions
- The audit is still running. Can I download the report? Wait until the scan finishes. The report can only include complete results.
- I cannot find the download option. Make sure the audit has completed and you are on the results page for the correct website. Refreshing the page can also help.
- The report looks empty or incomplete. Re-run the audit and check that your website address is entered correctly. Sites that block scanners may return limited results.
- The download did not start. Check that your browser is not blocking downloads or pop-ups. Then try again, or try a different browser.
- Can I get the report for a different website? Yes. Switch to that website using the project selector and run or open its audit.
- Can the fixes be applied automatically? Some issues can be handled with Search Atlas tools such as OTTO SEO. Check the issue details for options available on your plan.
