π Overview
If you signed up for Search Atlas and cancelled before your 7-day trial ended, you may still see a charge on your statement. This article explains why that can happen, how to confirm your cancellation, and how to request a review of the charge.
π How the 7-Day Trial Works
The trial period starts the moment you sign up. For example, if you start on September 21, your trial runs for seven days from that date. Cancelling inside that window should stop any further billing on your subscription.
- Your trial start date is the day you completed sign-up, not the day you first logged in.
- Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not automatically reverse a charge that was already made.
- Some plans include an initial sign-up amount. Whether it is refundable is reviewed on a case-by-case basis by our team.
π Why You May Still See a Charge
A charge on your statement after cancelling does not always mean something went wrong. Common reasons include:
- Initial sign-up amount: A charge was made when you started, and cancelling later does not automatically return it.
- Pending authorization: Your bank may show a temporary hold that disappears on its own after a few days.
- Cancellation not completed: The cancel request may not have been confirmed, so the subscription stayed active.
- Timing differences: Your bank or card issuer may show dates that differ from your actual sign-up or cancellation date.
β How to Confirm Your Cancellation
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- Open your account settings and go to the billing or subscription section.
- Check that your plan shows as cancelled, or that no upcoming renewal is listed.
- Look for a cancellation confirmation message in your inbox, including your spam folder.
If your plan still shows as active, cancel it again and take a screenshot of the confirmation for your records.
π° What to Do If You Were Charged
Before you contact us, gather the details below. Having them ready helps our team review your request faster.
- The date you signed up for the trial.
- The date you cancelled.
- The amount charged and the date it appeared on your statement.
- The last four digits of the card used.
- A screenshot of your cancellation confirmation, if you have one.
Then open the chat widget and ask for a billing review. Our team can look at your account, confirm your trial dates, and tell you whether the charge is eligible for a refund.
β³ How Long Refunds Take
If a refund is approved, it is returned to your original payment method. After it is issued, your bank or card provider may need several business days to show it on your statement. If you do not see it after that time, check with your bank and then let our team know.
π‘ Tips to Avoid Unexpected Charges
- Note your trial start date as soon as you sign up.
- Set a reminder for a day or two before the trial ends.
- Cancel well before the last day so time zone differences do not cause problems.
- Save your cancellation confirmation until your billing is settled.
- Review the plan details shown at checkout so you know whether an initial amount applies.
