πŸ“Œ Overview

Publication Media lets you list your websites and propose the price you want advertisers to pay to publish content on them. Many publishers ask why a site is listed at one price while incoming articles show a different amount, and how to raise the price on a specific site. This article explains how the listed price and article amounts work, how to submit a price change, and what to check if the change does not go through.

πŸ’‘ How Site Prices and Order Prices Relate

Understanding the difference between these two prices prevents most of the confusion:

  • Listed site price: the Price saved on the publication. New orders placed after that price is accepted use it. Changing it means submitting a Counter Offer, not editing Price directly.
  • Order price: for a Publication Exchange order, the publisher cost saved when the order was placed. That payout stays at the checkout amount even if the listed price changes later. An article that is still awaiting publication instead shows the publication's current live cost.

For example, a site can be listed at $50 while a Publication Exchange order still pays $120 because that order was placed at $120. Accepting a new listed price does not rewrite that order. It applies to new orders placed after the new price is accepted. An article still awaiting publication shows the publication's current live cost, so it can change if the listed price changes before you publish it.

πŸ› οΈ How to Update a Site Price

  1. Log in to Publication Media at publishers.publication.media and open Publications.
  2. Go to Existing Publication, the list of publications already added to your account.
  3. Find the site whose price you want to change and open its details or edit option.
  4. Leave Price as it is and enter the new amount in Counter Offer. The tooltip says to submit a counteroffer if you want to change the price. Save the publication. The card then shows Pending counteroffer with that amount. The listed Price does not change until the offer is accepted.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. After saving, confirm the publication card shows Pending counteroffer with the amount you entered. The listed Price updates only after the counteroffer is accepted.

Repeat this for each publication you want to reprice, and save each one. You can also select several publications and use Bulk Counter Offer. Each submission stays pending until it is accepted.

πŸ“₯ Managing Your Order Queue

Awaiting Publication shows the articles advertisers have assigned to your sites. Here is what to keep in mind:

  • Articles awaiting publication show the publication's current Cost. A Publication Exchange order is still paid at the cost saved at checkout, and after you publish it the Offer Price uses that checkout amount when one was saved.
  • Review each order carefully before you accept it, and check that the amount matches what you expect.
  • If a published order's Offer Price does not match your current listed price, check whether it was placed at a different price. Its checkout amount is kept. If an article awaiting publication shows a different Cost, that is the publication's current live price.
  • Orders placed after a counteroffer is accepted should use the updated listed price. Until then, new orders continue to use the current Price.

⚠️ If You Cannot Change a Price

If Price cannot be edited, or the Counter Offer stays pending or is rejected, check the following:

  • Make sure you are logged in to the Publication Media account that owns the publication.
  • Confirm the publication appears under Existing Publication. Active or Inactive does not decide whether you can submit a Counter Offer. For a new site, enter Your requested price per article while adding it.
  • You can submit a lower Counter Offer while articles are open. An increase is blocked while any article is assigned but not yet published, and while a delivered article still has an open payout priced from the current cost. It can also be rejected when it is above the site's domain-authority price cap, or during the 30-day lock that follows an accepted increase. If an increase is blocked, publish or wait for the open payouts to settle, or wait until the lock ends, and submit the Counter Offer again.
  • Check that you entered a valid number with no currency symbols, commas, or extra characters.
  • Refresh the page, or log out and back in, then try again.
  • Try a different browser or a private window to rule out a cached page.

If the price still will not update after these checks, our team can review the site directly. When you reach out, share the website name, the price currently listed, the price you want, and any order you are asking about.

βœ… Best Practices for Pricing Your Sites

  • Review your prices regularly so they reflect your site's traffic, authority, and demand.
  • Update prices on one site at a time and confirm each change saved correctly.
  • Make price changes when your queue is light, so fewer orders are affected by the timing.
  • Keep a simple record of your old and new prices so you can compare them against incoming orders.
