π Overview
If you earn money from publications on Search Atlas, you may see an amount marked as pending before it is paid out. This article explains what pending means, why a payment can take longer than expected, and what to do if a payment date you were given has passed.
β³ What Does Pending Mean?
A pending amount is money you have earned that has not yet been sent to you. Earnings usually stay pending while the team completes checks on the related publication and your payout details. Once those checks are finished, the amount moves on to payment.
- Pending: the earning is recorded but not yet paid.
- Paid: the payment has been sent to you.
Pending does not mean your earnings are lost. It means the payment is still in progress.
π How Long Should I Expect to Wait?
Payment timing can vary from case to case. If a teammate gave you a target date, such as the 15th of the month, treat it as the date the team expected to complete the payment. It can shift if something needs to be verified or corrected first.
After the target date, the payment still needs time to reach you. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to process it.
If a payment is more than a few days past the date you were given, it is worth checking on. If it has been weeks, contact the team right away.
π Common Reasons a Payment Is Delayed
- Missing or incorrect payout details: if your payment information is incomplete or does not match your account, the payment may not go through.
- Verification still in progress: the related publication or your account may still be under review.
- Publication not yet confirmed: earnings can stay pending until the publication is confirmed as complete.
- Failed or returned payment: if a payment was sent but rejected by the bank or provider, it needs to be re-issued.
- Processing time with your bank or provider: even after a payment is sent, it may take extra time to appear.
π§Ύ Refunds vs. Publisher Earnings
Refunds and publisher earnings are handled separately. A refund returns money to a customer for a purchase. Publisher earnings are money paid to you for publications. If you were told you would receive a refund by a certain date and it has not arrived, the same basic steps below apply. Be sure to say which one you are asking about so the team can look in the right place.
β What to Check First
- Open your account and review the status of the amount. Confirm whether it still shows as pending or has been marked as paid.
- Check that your payout details are complete and correct.
- Look at your bank or payment provider account, including any pending or returned transactions.
- Note the date you were told to expect the payment and how many days have passed.
- Check whether any message from the team is waiting for your reply, such as a request for more information.
π¬ What to Include When You Contact Support
Having the right details ready helps the team resolve your case faster and avoids back-and-forth. Please share:
- Whether this is a refund or a publisher earnings payment
- The amount you are expecting
- The date you were told to expect it
- The payment method or payout details on file (do not share full card or bank numbers)
- Any reference or transaction details you have
- Screenshots showing the pending status, if available
π‘ Tips to Avoid Payment Delays
- Keep your payout details up to date and double-check them after any change.
- Respond promptly if the team asks for verification or extra information.
- Keep a record of any dates or confirmations you are given.
- Allow a few extra days after the target date for your bank or provider to process the payment.
