🛠️ Fix WooCommerce SEO Metadata Errors

🔍 Understand the issue

WooCommerce pages may be missing from Page Explorer or show outdated information when Search Atlas cannot successfully crawl them. Common causes include blocked URLs, redirects, noindex settings, duplicate product URLs, caching, or content that is rendered only after JavaScript loads.

Incorrect SEO Suite data does not always mean that Search Atlas changed your website. It may reflect an earlier crawl, a different URL version, or metadata supplied by your WooCommerce SEO plugin.

🧭 Check the affected URL

  1. Open the product, category, or shop page directly in your browser.
  2. Confirm that the page loads without a login, password, or error.
  3. Copy the exact live URL, including its HTTPS version and trailing slash.
  4. Check whether the URL redirects to another page. The final destination is usually the URL that should be reviewed.
  5. Confirm that the page is not marked noindex and is not blocked by robots.txt.

⚙️ Review WooCommerce settings

In WordPress, review your SEO plugin and WooCommerce settings for the affected page type. Make sure product, category, shop, and tag pages have the intended index and canonical settings. Avoid assigning the same canonical URL to unrelated products or categories.

Check that product titles, descriptions, and headings are present in the page editor. If a template generates these elements, confirm that the template uses the correct WooCommerce product fields.

🧹 Clear conflicting or outdated data

  1. Save the affected product or page again, even if you made no changes.
  2. Clear your WordPress, hosting, CDN, and browser caches.
  3. Regenerate any SEO plugin metadata or sitemap files.
  4. Temporarily check for conflicts between SEO plugins. Two plugins should not manage the same title, description, canonical, or robots settings.
  5. Run a fresh crawl after the live page displays the correct information.

✍️ Prevent heading overwrites

If a heading is changing unexpectedly, identify which system is writing it. Check the page source and compare it with the WordPress editor, your theme, WooCommerce templates, and any active SEO automation.

Review active OTTO SEO recommendations before applying them. If an automated change is not desired, remove or disable that recommendation and restore the intended heading in WordPress or the relevant template. Keep one system responsible for each heading to prevent repeated changes.

📊 Use Search Atlas to verify the result

Open AI SEO → OTTO SEO from the left sidebar. Review the available actions, including Scan, and check whether the page is included after the site is accessible and correctly configured. Compare the reported title, description, headings, canonical URL, and crawl status with the live page.

If the page still does not appear, verify that the URL is included in your sitemap and that your site allows the Search Atlas crawler to access it. A page that is intentionally private, blocked, redirected, or set to noindex may not appear as an eligible SEO page.

✅ Troubleshooting checklist

  • The URL loads publicly and returns a successful status.
  • The final URL uses the preferred HTTPS and canonical version.
  • Robots.txt does not block crawling.
  • The page is not unintentionally set to noindex.
  • Product and category templates contain the intended headings.
  • Only one plugin or automation controls each SEO field.
  • Caches and generated metadata have been refreshed.
  • A new crawl has completed after the changes.
