🔍 Overview

After installing the OTTO pixel — either via the WordPress plugin or manual code snippet — you may notice that the pixel status inside the platform does not immediately change to confirmed. This is expected behavior. The status update depends on the completion of a site audit crawl, which may take some time depending on your site's size and structure.

This article explains the difference between a successful installation and a confirmed status, and what to expect while the crawl is underway.

✅ Installation Success vs. Status Confirmation

These are two separate events, and it is important not to confuse them:

  • Successful installation means the OTTO pixel code is correctly placed on your site, either through the activated WordPress plugin or a manually added snippet. No further action is needed on your end once this step is complete.
  • Status confirmation means Search Atlas has detected the pixel during a site audit crawl and has updated the dashboard to reflect it. This happens automatically — but only after the crawl finishes.

If your plugin is activated and your API credentials are correctly entered, your installation is likely already successful. The pending status simply means the crawl has not yet reached and verified your pages.

🔄 Site Audit Crawl and Timing

Once the OTTO pixel is installed, Search Atlas runs a site audit crawl to detect and confirm the pixel across your pages. During this crawl, the dashboard status may remain in a pending or unconfirmed state. This is normal — the status will update automatically once the crawl has completed and the pixel has been detected.

The time required for the crawl to complete can vary. Larger or more complex sites with many pages will naturally take longer to process than smaller sites. If your status has not updated, the most likely explanation is that the crawl is still in progress.

📊 What to Do While Waiting

While the crawl is underway, no action is required on your part. You do not need to reinstall the pixel or make any changes. Simply allow time for the crawl to complete. Once it finishes, your pixel status will update automatically in the platform dashboard.

If your pixel status remains unconfirmed after an extended period and you believe your installation is correctly set up, please reach out to our support team with your project name and any relevant details about how you installed the pixel (WordPress plugin or manual snippet).
