🗺️ Embed Google Maps in Brand Vault Locations

🔍 Overview

The Brand Vault Locations section supports an embedded Google Map to help display your business location. To save successfully, the map field requires a specific iframe embed code — not a standard Google Maps URL. Entering the wrong format will prevent the field from saving correctly.

📍 What the Google Map Field Expects

The map input field in Brand Vault Locations is designed to accept an iframe embed code from Google Maps. This is different from the URL you see in your browser's address bar when viewing a location on Google Maps.

  • Correct format: An iframe embed code that begins with <iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?..."
  • Incorrect format: A standard browser URL such as https://www.google.com/maps/place/...

Pasting a standard URL into the map field will not save and will not display a map preview.

🔗 How to Get the Correct Iframe Embed Code from Google Maps

  1. Open Google Maps in your browser and search for your business location.
  2. Click on your business listing to open the location panel.
  3. Click the Share button (the arrow icon near the top of the panel).
  4. In the Share dialog, select the Embed a map tab.
  5. Choose your preferred map size from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Copy HTML. This copies the full iframe embed code to your clipboard.

The copied code will look similar to this example:

📋 How to Add the Embed Code to Brand Vault Locations

  1. Navigate to Brand Vault: top-right More Features menu (grid icon, next to your account menu) → Brand Vault, or OTTO SEO in the left sidebar → All Sites → open your project → Brand Vault.
  2. Open the Locations section.
  3. Locate the Google Map field for the relevant location.
  4. Paste the full iframe embed code you copied from Google Maps into the field.
  5. Click Save to confirm your changes.

Once saved, a map preview will appear within the Locations card displaying your embedded location.

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Pasting a browser URL instead of the iframe code. Always use the Share → Embed a map flow in Google Maps to get the correct code.
  • Copying only the src attribute value. The entire <iframe>...</iframe> tag is required, not just the URL inside the src attribute.
  • Editing the iframe code after copying. Avoid modifying the code manually, as this can break the embed and prevent saving.
  • Using a Google My Business or Google Search result URL. These URLs are not compatible with the embed field.

✅ How to Confirm the Map Saved Correctly

After saving, scroll to the Locations section in Brand Vault. If the embed was accepted, you will see a live map preview rendered inside the location card. If the field appears blank or shows an error, review the format of the code you pasted and repeat the steps above using the Embed a map tab in Google Maps.
