🔍 Why Duplicate Regional Projects Appear
When setting up a website in OTTO Site Explorer, it is possible to create multiple projects for the same domain. If you only need one version, the duplicate can be safely deleted without affecting your remaining project.
📋 Before You Delete
Take a moment to confirm the following before removing a project:
- Identify the correct project to keep. Review your existing projects in OTTO Site Explorer and confirm which one you want to retain before proceeding.
- Check for linked OTTO automations. Note which project is linked to any active OTTO SEO session before proceeding, so you delete the correct one.
- Save any data you need. Download any reports you want to keep before deleting, as deleted project data may not be recoverable.
🗑️ How to Delete the Unwanted Project
To remove a duplicate project, follow these steps:
- Log in to Search Atlas and navigate to Site Metrics > Site Explorer.
- Locate the duplicate project in your project list.
- Open the project's settings or options menu (typically accessible via a three-dot or gear icon next to the project name).
- Select the Delete or Remove option.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
If you do not see a delete option, or if the option is unavailable for a particular project, please contact our support team for assistance. When you reach out, please have the following ready:
- The domain name associated with the duplicate projects
- Which project you want to delete
- Which project you want to keep
- Whether either project is linked to an active OTTO SEO session
✅ After Deleting
Once the unwanted project is deleted:
- Confirm that only your preferred project remains in your OTTO Site Explorer project list.
- If you use OTTO SEO, verify that your active session is still correctly linked to the project you kept.
💡 Tips to Avoid Duplicate Projects
- Before creating a new project, always check your existing OTTO Site Explorer project list to see if a project for that domain already exists.
- When setting up a project, double-check all settings before saving to avoid creating unintended duplicates.
