🗺️ Overview
When OTTO deploys optimizations to your site, it keeps a record of every page title and meta description it has pushed live. If you change your crawler settings or want to review what is currently deployed, this article explains how to locate that historical data and how to properly rescan your pages so OTTO reflects the latest state of your site.
📋 Where to Find Previously Deployed Titles and Meta Descriptions
OTTO stores a log of every optimization it has deployed. To view previously deployed page titles and meta descriptions:
- Go to OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation) in the left sidebar.
- Select the site you are working on to open its OTTO dashboard.
- Navigate to the section within OTTO that lists your deployed optimizations. Here you can review the page titles and meta descriptions that OTTO has pushed live, including the URLs they were applied to.
- Locate the specific page whose deployed title or meta description you want to review.
If you are unable to find the deployed values for a specific page or the data does not appear as expected, please escalate to the support team with the following information ready: your project/site name, the URL(s) you are checking, and a description of what you expected to see versus what is shown.
✏️ How to Edit Live Titles and Meta Descriptions
You can update a deployed title or meta description inside OTTO. Navigate to your deployed optimizations within the OTTO dashboard, locate the page you want to update, and use the available editing option for that page's title or meta description. Once you save your changes, OTTO will push the updated value to your live page.
Important: If your site uses a plugin or theme that also controls meta fields, changes made through OTTO may be overridden on the next plugin save if OTTO does not have write priority over those fields.
🔄 Rescanning Pages After Changing Crawler Settings
When you update your crawler settings — for example, changing which URL patterns OTTO should include or exclude — the existing optimization data may no longer reflect the current state of your pages. A rescan tells OTTO to re-crawl the affected URLs and refresh its recommendations.
- Go to OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation) in the left sidebar and open the relevant site's OTTO dashboard.
- Locate the crawler settings area and confirm your updated settings are saved.
- Trigger a rescan for the affected pages so OTTO re-crawls those URLs and updates its data accordingly.
If the rescan does not complete as expected or deployed values are still not reflecting your crawler changes, have the following ready when you contact support: your site/project name, the crawler settings you changed, the URLs affected, and any error messages or unexpected behavior you observed.
