The OTTO pixel is a small JavaScript snippet that must be installed on your website so Search Atlas can verify site ownership and enable OTTO's AI-powered SEO automation. If the dashboard shows the pixel as not installed, it means either the script has not been added to your site yet or it cannot be detected.
📋 How to Retrieve Your OTTO Pixel Script
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- In the left sidebar, click OTTO SEO. This opens the OTTO dashboard at /seo-automation-v3.
- Select the OTTO project for the website you are working on.
- Locate the pixel or site verification section within the project. Your unique pixel script will be displayed there.
- Click Copy to copy the full script to your clipboard.
Your OTTO pixel script will look similar to this structure:
(function(o,t,t,o){ ... })(your-unique-project-id);
Every pixel script is unique to your OTTO project. Do not share it or use a script from a different project on this site.
🛠️ How to Install the OTTO Pixel on Your Website
Paste the copied script into your website so that it loads on every page. The recommended placement is just before the closing tag in your site's HTML. Here are common installation methods:
- WordPress: Use a plugin such as Insert Headers and Footers, or paste the script directly into your theme's header.php file before .
- Shopify: Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit Code → theme.liquid and paste before .
- Wix / Squarespace / Webflow: Use the custom code or header injection section in your site settings.
- Google Tag Manager: Create a new Custom HTML tag, paste the script, and set the trigger to All Pages. Publish the container after saving.
✅ How to Confirm the Pixel Is Detected
- After installing the script, return to the OTTO project in Search Atlas at OTTO SEO in the left sidebar.
- Look for a Verify or Check Installation button and click it.
- If detection is successful, the pixel status will update to Active or Installed.
- If the status still shows Not Installed, work through the troubleshooting steps below.
🔍 Troubleshooting: Pixel Still Showing as Not Installed
- Check the script is on every page: The pixel must appear in the HTML source of your live pages. Right-click any page on your site, select View Page Source, and search for your unique project ID to confirm it is present.
- Clear caching: If your site uses a caching plugin or CDN (such as Cloudflare, WP Rocket, or LiteSpeed), purge the cache after installing the script so the updated code is served to visitors and to Search Atlas.
- Confirm no script blockers: Browser extensions or firewall rules can prevent the pixel from firing. Test in a private/incognito window with extensions disabled, or on a different network.
- Check for duplicate installations: Installing the script more than once can occasionally cause conflicts. Ensure the pixel appears exactly once in your page source.
- Allow a few minutes: After a successful installation, the Search Atlas dashboard may take a few minutes to register the pixel as active. Refresh the page before retrying verification.
- Correct project script: Confirm the script you installed matches the one shown in the OTTO project for this specific site. Scripts are project-specific and are not interchangeable.
