🔌 Install and Set Up the OTTO WordPress Plugin

🧩 What Is the OTTO WordPress Plugin?

OTTO is Search Atlas's AI-powered SEO automation tool. The OTTO WordPress plugin connects your WordPress site directly to the Search Atlas platform, allowing OTTO to deploy on-page SEO optimizations — such as title tags, meta descriptions, schema markup, and more — automatically, without manual edits inside WordPress.

📋 Before You Begin

  • You have an active Search Atlas account with OTTO enabled.
  • You have admin access to your WordPress site.
  • Your WordPress site is publicly accessible (not in maintenance mode or behind a login wall).

⚙️ Step 1: Activate OTTO for Your Site in Search Atlas

  1. Log in to your Search Atlas account.
  2. In the left sidebar, navigate to OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation).
  3. Click Create or select an existing site.
  4. Enter your website URL and follow the on-screen prompts to create an OTTO session for your site.
  5. Once the session is created, you will see a unique OTTO Connection Key on the setup screen. Copy this key — you will need it in Step 3.

🔽 Step 2: Install the Search Atlas Plugin on WordPress

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. In the left menu, go to Plugins → Add New.
  3. In the search bar, type Search Atlas.
  4. Locate the official Search Atlas plugin in the WordPress admin plugin list and click Install Now.
  5. Once installation is complete, click Activate.

Alternatively, you can download the plugin file directly from Search Atlas and upload it via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

🔗 Step 3: Connect the Plugin to Your Search Atlas Account

  1. After activating the plugin, go to Search Atlas → Settings in your WordPress left menu.
  2. Paste the OTTO Connection Key you copied from Search Atlas into the connection field.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. A confirmation message will appear indicating that your site is successfully linked to your Search Atlas account.

✅ Step 4: Verify the Connection in Search Atlas

  1. Return to your Search Atlas account, go to OTTO SEO in the left sidebar, and open SEO Automation.
  2. Your site's status should now show as Connected.
  3. OTTO is now ready to deploy SEO optimizations to your WordPress site.

🚀 Step 5: Deploy OTTO Optimizations

With the plugin connected, you can return to the OTTO SEO section in Search Atlas at any time to review and deploy OTTO's recommended SEO tasks. When you approve and deploy a task, OTTO will automatically apply the changes to your live WordPress site through the plugin — no manual edits required.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Plugin not found in WordPress: Try searching for "Search Atlas" in the WordPress admin plugin list. If it still does not appear, contact support to get the direct plugin download link.
  • Connection Key not working: Make sure you copied the full key without extra spaces. Keys are session-specific — if you created a new OTTO session, generate a fresh key.
  • Site shows as Disconnected: Deactivate and reactivate the plugin in WordPress, then re-enter your connection key.
  • Changes not appearing on the live site: Clear your WordPress cache and any CDN cache after deploying optimizations.
