🔍 Overview

After OTTO SEO deploys optimisations to your site, you may need to review what was published or make changes to live page titles and meta descriptions. This article explains how to find your deployed metadata and edit it directly within Search Atlas.

⚙️ Before You Start

Make sure the following conditions are met before attempting to view or edit deployed metadata:

• OTTO is connected to your site and has successfully deployed at least one optimisation.
• Your crawler settings are saved — if you recently updated crawler settings, wait for the next crawl cycle to complete before reviewing new data.
• You have the Editor or Admin role on your Search Atlas workspace.

🚀 How to View Deployed Page Titles and Meta Descriptions

1. In the left sidebar, click OTTO SEO, then open All Sites (SEO Automation).

2. Select the site you want to review from the site selector at the top of the page.

3. Navigate to the Deployments section or the relevant task category (for example, Title Tags or Meta Descriptions).

4. Click on any task row to expand it. You will see two values side by side:

   • Original — the metadata that existed on the page before OTTO made changes.
   • Deployed — the metadata currently live on your page as deployed by OTTO.

5. Use the Status column to confirm that the task shows Deployed. Tasks showing Pending or Approved have not yet been pushed to your site.

✏️ How to Edit a Live Deployed Title or Meta Description

If you need to change a page title or meta description that OTTO has already deployed, follow these steps:

1. In the left sidebar, click OTTO SEO, then open All Sites (SEO Automation).
2. Select your site from the site selector.
3. Locate the deployed task you want to update. You can use the search bar or filter by Task Type to find title tag or meta description tasks quickly.
4. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the deployed task, then select Edit.
5. Update the title or meta description text in the edit field. Keep titles under 60 characters and meta descriptions under 160 characters for best results in search results pages.
6. Click Save to confirm your changes.
7. Click Deploy (or approve the updated task through your site's approval workflow) to push the new value live to your site.

Note: Editing a deployed task creates a new version. The previous deployed value is preserved in the task history so you can always reference what was live before your update.

🔄 What Happens After Changing Crawler Settings

If you recently updated your crawler settings (such as changing which pages are crawled or updating crawl frequency), keep the following in mind:

• OTTO will re-crawl your site on the next scheduled cycle. New recommendations will appear after the crawl completes.
• Previously deployed metadata remains live on your site until you explicitly edit and redeploy it — crawler setting changes do not automatically roll back or overwrite existing deployments.
• Once the new crawl finishes, review the updated task list to see whether any pages now have fresh title or meta description suggestions based on your new settings.
• If a page you expected to see is missing from the task list, confirm that the URL is included in your crawler scope and that the page returns a 200 HTTP status.

💡 Tips for Managing Metadata at Scale

• Use the Bulk Select checkbox to approve or deploy multiple updated tasks at once, saving time across large sites.
• Filter tasks by Page Type (posts, pages, products) to manage metadata for specific sections of your site.
• After deploying edits, allow 24–48 hours for search engines to re-crawl and reflect the updated metadata in search results.
• Cross-reference your titles and meta descriptions in the Content → On-Page Audit section (left sidebar → Content → On-Page Audit) for additional optimisation insights on individual URLs.
