🔍 Overview

The OTTO SEO pixel is tied to the domain set when the project is created, and an existing OTTO project's domain cannot be changed in place. If you need to move to a new domain — for example, replacing an old site with a newly launched one — you will need to create a new OTTO project for the new domain and install its pixel. This article walks you through each step.

➕ Step 1: Create a New OTTO Project for the New Domain

1. In the left sidebar, go to OTTO SEO → All Sites (SEO Automation).
2. Add the new domain as a new site/project. If the new domain has no Site Audit project yet, one is created automatically.

Note: There is no option to edit the domain of an existing OTTO project, so the old project cannot be pointed at the new domain.

🛠️ Step 2: Install the New Project's Pixel

Open the new project's Installation Guide and copy its pixel snippet. Each OTTO project has its own snippet, so the old project's code will not work on the new domain. Paste it inside the of your new site (or use the WordPress plugin or the Cloudflare integration described in the Installation Guide).

🧹 Step 3: Remove the Old Pixel

Remove the old project's pixel code from the old site's source so the two projects do not conflict.

🗂️ Step 4: Decide What to Do With the Old Project

• Delete it if you no longer need it: deleting an OTTO project frees its OTTO slot right away.
• Deep Freeze it if you want to keep its data read-only: a frozen project's slot is released after 14 days.

💡 Common Questions

Will I lose my OTTO optimisation history? The old project keeps its own data until you delete it. The new project starts fresh: changes applied on the old domain do not carry over, and OTTO analyses the new domain from scratch.

Can I connect multiple domains to one project? No. Each OTTO project supports one active domain at a time. If you need to manage a second domain, create a separate project.

How long does pixel verification take? Verification is usually instant once the code is correctly placed. If it does not verify within a few minutes, clear your site cache and try again.
