OTTO SEO is Search Atlas's on-page SEO automation engine that crawls your site, surfaces technical issues, and deploys fixes directly through an injected pixel — no developer access or source-code changes required. You can find OTTO under Left sidebar → OTTO SEO → All Sites in your Search Atlas dashboard.
📋 What OTTO SEO Does
OTTO scans your site for issues such as missing meta titles, schema gaps, and indexing problems. Once activated, it deploys fixes live through its pixel while your codebase stays completely untouched. Two status flags control its behavior:
- Engaged — OTTO is actively monitoring and deploying fixes to your site.
- Frozen — All deployments are paused. No fixes are applied until the freeze is lifted.
🚀 How to Set Up OTTO SEO
- Create a project. Go to Left sidebar → OTTO SEO → All Sites in your Search Atlas dashboard and click Create. Enter your site's hostname to get started.
- Install the OTTO pixel. Choose the installation method that matches your platform (see below). The pixel must be verified as installed before OTTO can deploy any fixes. Platform-specific video guides and step-by-step instructions are available within the in-app installation guide.
- Connect Google Search Console. Link a GSC property to your project. Without GSC, keyword and indexing data will be unavailable — this step is required, not optional.
- Wait for the initial crawl to complete. OTTO performs a full crawl of your site before generating issue reports. Issues will not appear until the crawl finishes — this is not an instant process.
- Review issues and click Engage. Once the crawl is done, review detected issues in your dashboard, then click Engage to activate automated deployments.
🔧 Supported Installation Methods
OTTO supports a wide range of platforms and hosting environments:
- WordPress plugin — includes a dedicated video installation guide
- Cloudflare Worker (has its own verification status, separate from the standard pixel)
- Manual script
- Google Tag Manager — multi-step installation; follow every step in the in-app guide carefully
- Shopify (dedicated step-by-step installation guide available), Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, GoHighLevel, and ClickFunnels

⚠️ Common Setup Issues
- If your pixel shows as Pending, OTTO cannot deploy any fixes. Confirm the pixel is correctly installed and verified before clicking Engage.
- Connecting GSC alone is not enough to start deployments — the pixel must also be installed and verified first.
- If your project is in a Frozen state, clicking Engage has no effect until the freeze is lifted from your project settings.
