🔍 Overview
This article covers two common questions: how to connect OTTO to a website built on Wix, and whether a design made in an outside AI tool (such as Claude) can be sent to Website Studio to be built and hosted.
📌 Before You Start
- You need admin access to your Wix account and site.
- Wix only allows custom code on sites with a Premium plan and a connected custom domain. Free Wix sites cannot run the OTTO pixel.
- Have your OTTO pixel code ready from your Search Atlas project. It is a short snippet that starts with a script tag.
📋 Step 1: Copy Your OTTO Pixel
- Log in to Search Atlas and open the project for your Wix website.
- Go to OTTO SEO and open the installation or setup area.
- Choose the pixel installation option and copy the full code snippet. Copy all of it, including the opening and closing tags.
⚙️ Step 2: Add the Pixel to Wix
- Log in to Wix and open your site dashboard.
- Go to Settings, then find Custom Code (in some accounts it is under Advanced).
- Click Add Custom Code and paste your OTTO pixel into the code box.
- Name it something easy to recognize, such as "OTTO Pixel".
- Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages.
- Under Place Code in, choose Head.
- Click Apply, then Publish your Wix site so the change goes live.
Menu names in Wix can change over time. If you cannot find Custom Code, search for it in the Wix dashboard search bar.
✅ Step 3: Confirm the Pixel Is Working
- Return to your OTTO project in Search Atlas.
- Check the pixel status or run the verification option, if one is shown.
- If it does not show as connected right away, wait a few minutes and refresh. Then clear your browser cache or test in a private window.
🧰 Troubleshooting the Wix Install
- Custom Code option is missing or locked: Check that your site has a Premium plan and a connected domain.
- Pixel not detected: Make sure you clicked Publish after applying the code. Wix does not push code changes live until you do.
- Code placed in the wrong spot: The pixel should be in the Head and set to load on All pages.
- Incomplete code: If part of the snippet was cut off when copying, paste it again from OTTO.
- Wrong project or domain: Confirm the pixel you copied belongs to the same website you are installing it on.
- Browser extensions: Ad blockers and privacy tools can hide the pixel during testing. Try a private window with extensions off.
🎨 Using a Claude Design with Website Studio
Many customers create a layout or concept in an outside AI tool like Claude and want to reuse it in Website Studio. Here is what to expect.
- Direct import: We cannot confirm a one-click way to send a design from an outside tool into Website Studio to be built and hosted. Do not rely on one until our team confirms it for your account.
- Website Studio builds from your input: It creates pages from the business details, content, and instructions you provide in the platform.
💡 Recommended Way to Reuse Your Design Ideas
- Save your design as a screenshot or PDF so you have a clear visual reference.
- Write down the page structure: for example, hero section, services, testimonials, FAQ, and contact form.
- Copy the text, headlines, and calls to action from your design.
- Gather your logo, brand colors, fonts, and images.
- Enter these details in Website Studio and describe the layout and style you want, then review and adjust the result.
This gets you close to your original design while keeping your site hosted and managed in Search Atlas.
🔗 Using Both Together
If your site is hosted in Website Studio, you do not need to follow the Wix steps above. The Wix steps apply only to sites that stay on Wix. If you plan to move from Wix to Website Studio, tell our team first so they can advise you on the order of steps and on your domain and OTTO setup.
