If you attempt to activate Instant Indexing on a project and receive an HTTP 400 'Unable to activate indexing' response with is_transient: false, your current subscription does not include access to this feature. This is a plan-level restriction, not a configuration problem.

Importantly, this error will appear even when every other prerequisite is correctly in place — including the tracking pixel installed on your site, Google Search Console (GSC) connected, and your sitemap registered. A non-transient 400 error means no amount of reconfiguration will resolve it; a plan upgrade is required.

Instant Indexing is available exclusively on the following Search Atlas subscription plans:

• Agency

Starter plans and free trials do not include access to Instant Indexing. If your account is on a lower-tier plan, every activation attempt will return a non-transient 400 error, regardless of your project's setup.

🔧 How to Upgrade Your Plan

1. Log in to Search Atlas and click your account avatar in the top-right corner of the platform.
2. Select Billing from the dropdown menu.
3. Go to the Plans & Top-ups tab (Billing).
4. Select the Pro or Agency plan and complete the checkout steps.
5. Once your upgrade is confirmed, navigate to Left sidebar → OTTO SEO → All Sites → [your project card] → Instant Indexing and activate the feature for your project.

If you are already on a qualifying plan and still see the HTTP 400 error, confirm the following before contacting support:

• Pixel installed: Verify the Search Atlas tracking pixel is present in the of your site and loading without errors.
• GSC connected: Go to Avatar → Settings → Integrations and confirm Google Search Console shows a green connected status.
• Sitemap registered: Ensure your sitemap is submitted and verified directly inside your Google Search Console account, not only within Search Atlas.
• Correct project selected: Confirm you are activating Instant Indexing on the intended project under Left sidebar → OTTO SEO → All Sites.
