What Is Bing Indexing in OTTO?
OTTO's Bing indexing feature uses the Bing URL Submission API to notify Bing when you publish or update content on your WordPress site, helping your content get indexed faster. This feature requires the Search Atlas WordPress plugin to be installed and connected to your Search Atlas account.
Before You Begin
- Your WordPress site must have the Search Atlas plugin installed and activated.
- The plugin must be authenticated and connected to your Search Atlas account.
- You must have an active OTTO session deployed on the target site.
- Your Search Atlas plan must include OTTO access.
Setting Up Bing Indexing
- Open your OTTO session in Search Atlas and navigate to the site where the Search Atlas WordPress plugin is installed and connected.
- Locate the Bing Indexing setting within OTTO's configuration options for your site.
- Enter your Bing URL Submission API key. You can obtain this key from your Bing Webmaster Tools account (bing.com/webmasters). Log in to Bing Webmaster Tools and locate your API key to generate or copy it.
- Save and enable the Bing indexing feature. Once your API key is entered and saved, OTTO will automatically submit new and updated URLs from your WordPress site to Bing via the Submission API.
- Verify the connection is active by publishing or updating a page on your WordPress site and confirming that URL submissions are being processed through OTTO.
Troubleshooting
- If Bing indexing is not working, confirm your Search Atlas plugin is fully authenticated and that your OTTO session is active and deployed on the correct site.
- Double-check that the Bing URL Submission API key entered in OTTO matches the key in your Bing Webmaster Tools account.
- Ensure your WordPress site URL in Search Atlas matches the property verified in Bing Webmaster Tools.
