If a blog post created in OTTO fails to publish to WordPress, the issue is usually related to plugin installation, plugin version, or WordPress-side settings — not OTTO itself.

This article walks through installing the plugin, completing setup, syncing a post from OTTO, and understanding why a post may not appear where you expect it on your site.

📥 Installing the Search Atlas WordPress Plugin

The Search Atlas plugin (internal slug metasync) is not listed in the WordPress.org plugin directory. It is installed by uploading the plugin ZIP file provided by Search Atlas.

  1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the Search Atlas plugin ZIP file.
  4. Click Install Now, then click Activate Plugin.

Activation is required — the plugin will not work if it is only installed.

🔄 Keeping the Plugin Updated

Always run the latest version of the plugin — outdated versions are a common cause of failed syncs. If you suspect your installed version is out of date, delete and reinstall the plugin using the latest ZIP file provided by Search Atlas.

🔐 Plugin Setup (Required Before Publishing)

After activation, open the Search Atlas Plugin in WordPress and confirm:

  • API Key is added
  • UUID is added
  • Settings are saved

Then click Clear Cache, click Sync Now, and wait for the sync to complete.

✍️ How to Push a Blog Post from OTTO

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Content → Content Genius (What are we writing today?) and open the article in editor mode.
  2. Select Published or Draft.
  3. Click Sync to Blog Post.

You should see a "blog synced successfully" message.

👀 Why the Blog Post Is Live but Not Visible

If the sync succeeds but you don't see the post on your blog page, this is expected WordPress behavior. Common reasons include:

  • The post is assigned to a different category
  • Your blog page only displays certain categories
  • Pagination hides newer posts
  • Theme or page builder controls visibility

✅ How to Confirm the Post Exists

  1. Go to WordPress → Posts.
  2. Locate the post (Draft or Published).
  3. Check its category, status, and URL.

If it appears here, the post was published successfully.

🔧 Changing Where the Blog Appears

Post placement (category) is controlled by Search Atlas during sync. You can change the category in the sync pop-up window and match it to an existing WordPress category. This must be set each time you sync a post.
