🤔 What Is Sync to CMS?
Sync to CMS allows OTTO to automatically push approved SEO optimizations from your dashboard directly into your website's CMS. When enabled, each approved optimization is written to your CMS's native fields as well as the SEO plugin you are using, keeping your live website and CMS records in sync at all times.
✅ Who Can Use Sync to CMS?
Sync to CMS is available only for websites connected through the SearchAtlas WordPress plugin (MetaSync). If your website uses the Cloudflare or Pixel installation method, the Sync to CMS option will not appear in your dashboard. You must be on a WordPress plugin project to access this feature.
⚙️ How to Turn On Sync to CMS
- Open your OTTO project.
- Select a syncable optimization type (for example, Page Title or Meta Description).
- Locate the Sync to CMS toggle.
- Turn it on and confirm.
Once enabled, every approved optimization for that type will automatically sync to your CMS. You can turn the feature off at any time. Doing so prevents future optimizations from syncing, but any changes that have already been synced will remain in your CMS.
📋 What Gets Synced
Each supported optimization is saved to the SearchAtlas plugin's native fields and synchronized with your active SEO plugin (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or AIOSEO). The following optimization types are synced:
- Meta title — synced
- Meta description — synced
- Focus keyword / keyphrase — synced
- Open Graph title and description — synced
- Twitter title and description — synced
- Schema / structured data — synced
- Canonical URL — synced
- Image alt text — synced (updates the WordPress Media Library)
🚫 What Does Not Sync
Heading changes and Link corrections (Issues with Links) are not synced. These optimizations modify the page body content, which is native to the SearchAtlas plugin. Because SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO, Rank Math, and AIOSEO do not provide equivalent fields for page body content, there is nothing to synchronize.
Additionally, heading and link changes are supported only on posts and pages using the Gutenberg or Classic Editor. They are intentionally skipped on the following page builders because those builders store content outside the standard WordPress post body:
- Elementor
- Divi
- WPBakery
- Beaver Builder
- Oxygen
- Brizy
All other supported optimization types sync regardless of which editor or page builder is used.
