🔍 Overview

A confirmed bug previously caused file upload fields in Website Studio forms to silently fail. Even when a visitor successfully selected and submitted a file — such as a logo or image — the submitted value was stored as empty, meaning the file could not be retrieved from the form submission data.

This issue has been investigated, escalated to engineering, and fully resolved. File uploads through Website Studio forms now save and store correctly.

⚙️ What Was Happening

When a Website Studio form included a file upload field, the form appeared to accept the file on the visitor's end. However, the file data was silently dropped during processing. The form submission record stored an empty value instead of the uploaded file, making it impossible to access or download the file after submission.

This affected any Website Studio form with a file upload field, regardless of the file type being submitted.

✅ Current Status — Issue Resolved

Engineering identified the root cause and shipped a fix. The file upload functionality in Website Studio forms now works as expected. Customers have confirmed that common image formats such as JPG and PNG upload and save successfully.

If you set up a form with a file upload field, submitted files will now be captured and stored correctly in your form submission data.

🧪 How to Verify File Uploads Are Working

  1. Open Website Studio and navigate to your website projects.
  2. Open the website project that contains the form with a file upload field.
  3. Submit a test entry through the form, attaching a file (JPG or PNG are confirmed to work).
  4. Check your form submission data for that project to confirm the file value is no longer empty and the uploaded file is accessible.

💡 If You Still See Empty File Values

If you submitted files before the fix was deployed, those earlier submissions were affected by the bug and the file data cannot be recovered — the files were not stored at the time of submission.

For any submissions made after the fix, file uploads should now save correctly. If you are still experiencing missing file data on new submissions after testing, follow the steps below:

  • Confirm the form field is set up as a file upload type and not another input type.
  • Try submitting again using a supported image format such as JPG or PNG.
  • Check the form submission record again after the new test submission.

If the problem persists on new submissions, this may indicate a separate issue that needs investigation.
