☁️ What Is the Cloudflare Worker Installation?
Search Atlas can be deployed directly on your website using a Cloudflare Worker — a lightweight script that runs on Cloudflare's edge network. This method is ideal if you prefer not to modify your site's source code directly. To complete the setup, you will need a Cloudflare account with access to your domain's DNS settings and a valid Cloudflare API token.
🛠️ Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following ready before starting the installation:
- An active Cloudflare account with your website's domain added and proxied through Cloudflare.
- Access to the Search Atlas platform with OTTO SEO enabled for your site.
- Permission to create API tokens in your Cloudflare account (account owner or admin role).
🔑 Step 1: Create a Cloudflare API Token
A Cloudflare API token allows Search Atlas to deploy and manage the Worker on your behalf. Follow these steps to generate one:
- Log in to your Cloudflare dashboard at dash.cloudflare.com.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select My Profile.
- Navigate to the API Tokens tab and click Create Token.
- Configure the token with the permissions required for Workers deployment, including access to Workers Scripts and Workers Routes for the relevant zone (domain).
- Under Zone Resources, select the specific zone (domain) you are installing Search Atlas on.
- Review the permissions, then confirm and create the token.
- Copy the token immediately — Cloudflare will only display it once.
⚙️ Step 2: Enter Your API Token in Search Atlas
Once your token is created, return to the Search Atlas platform to begin the Worker installation:
- Open the Search Atlas platform and navigate to OTTO SEO.
- Locate the Cloudflare Worker installation option within your site's setup or connection settings.
- Paste your Cloudflare API token into the designated field and confirm.
- Search Atlas will verify that the token is active and has the correct permissions before proceeding.
If token validation fails, double-check that the token was copied in full, that it has not expired, and that it includes the necessary permissions for Workers deployment on the correct zone. You may need to generate a new token in Cloudflare and re-enter it.
🚀 Step 3: Deploy the Cloudflare Worker
After your token is verified, complete the deployment by selecting the Cloudflare zone (domain) you want to deploy the Worker to and confirming the Worker route that will be created for your site.
⚠️ When to Contact Support
If you are unable to complete the installation, please have the following ready when you reach out:
- Your project or site name in Search Atlas.
- The exact error message displayed, if any.
- The timestamp of when the issue occurred.
- Confirmation of whether the Cloudflare API token was successfully generated and copied.
