🔍 Overview
When a Google Business Profile (GBP) account contains duplicate listings, Search Atlas may link your Local SEO Heatmap grids to the wrong location ID. After you resolve the duplicate on Google's side — through a CID (Customer ID) consolidation — the heatmap may need to be re-associated with the correct GBP location. This article explains what that process involves and how to request assistance from the Search Atlas team.
⚠️ What Is CID Consolidation and Why Does It Affect Heatmaps?
Google assigns a unique CID to every GBP listing. If your account had two listings for the same business location, Google may have consolidated them into a single authoritative CID. Once that happens, the location ID that Search Atlas previously used to track your heatmap grids may no longer match the active GBP listing. As a result, your heatmaps can appear disconnected, fail to refresh, or stop receiving new ranking data.
🛠️ How to Request a Heatmap Re-link
Re-linking a heatmap to the correct GBP location after duplicate consolidation requires assistance from the Search Atlas team. To help us process your request as efficiently as possible, please have the following information ready before reaching out:
- Confirmation that the duplicate is fully resolved in Google — Log in to your Google Business Profile account and verify that only one listing exists for the location. The consolidation must be complete before the team can re-link your heatmap.
- Your Search Atlas project or account name — so the team can locate your heatmap records.
- Details about the affected heatmap — including the business name and location associated with the heatmap that is no longer updating correctly.
- The correct, active GBP listing details — such as the business name, address, and any identifiers visible in your GBP account for the consolidated listing.
