🔍 Overview
Content Genius v5 introduced a redesigned article generation workflow, and some customers have noticed that the export button — which previously included keywords, meta titles, meta descriptions, and internal links — works differently than in earlier versions. This article explains how export currently works in v5, what data is available, and how to access it.
🗺️ How to Navigate to Content Genius
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- In the left sidebar, click Content.
- Select Content Genius from the expanded menu. This takes you to /content/seo-content-assistant.
📄 Where to Find Metadata in v5
In Content Genius v5, metadata (meta title, meta description, and keywords) is now managed through a dedicated Metadata screen within the article editor. This screen is generated and populated automatically by the AI once your article is created. To access it:
- Open an existing article or generate a new one inside Content Genius.
- Once the article has finished generating, look for the Metadata tab or section within the article editor panel.
- Here you will find your meta title, meta description, and keywords as produced by the AI finalizer.
Note: If the metadata fields appear empty or incomplete, the AI finalizer may still be processing. Wait a few moments and refresh the article view. This is a known area of active improvement in v5.
💾 How to Export Your Content and Metadata
The export functionality in Content Genius v5 allows you to download your completed article. Follow these steps:
- With your article open in the Content Genius editor, locate the export or download option in the article toolbar (typically represented by a download icon or an Export button at the top of the editor).
- Select your preferred export format. Depending on your plan, options may include document formats that contain the article body along with associated metadata fields.
- If you need internal links, review the internal link suggestions shown within the editor before exporting, and ensure they are applied to the article body so they are included in the exported file.
Important: Export of the Query Fan-out (Query Funnel) tool data was affected by a bug in v5 and has since been resolved. If you previously experienced missing or incomplete exports from that tool, the fix is now in place — try re-generating and exporting again.
⚠️ Known Limitations and Recent Fixes
The following issues were identified in Content Genius v5 and have been addressed by the engineering team:
- Incomplete metadata on export: The metadata read-back and AI-generate endpoint for the Metadata screen has been fixed and is now fully operational.
- Non-English articles receiving English metadata: Articles written in languages other than English were incorrectly receiving English meta titles, meta descriptions, and keywords. This locale-matching issue has been resolved — metadata now generates in the same language as your article output.
- Query Fan-out export broken or incomplete: Exports from the Query Funnel tool were missing data in some cases. This has been corrected.
✅ Best Practices for Metadata and Export in v5
- Always wait for the article to fully finish generating before attempting to access the Metadata screen or export. Exporting mid-generation can result in incomplete data.
- If your article is in a non-English language, confirm that the metadata displayed in the Metadata screen matches your target language before exporting.
- Review and apply any internal link suggestions within the editor prior to export to ensure they are captured in the final output.
- If metadata fields are blank after generation is complete, try refreshing the page and reopening the article.
