🔍 What Is Happening?

When you generate a blog post in Content Genius, you may notice that the slug (the URL-friendly version of your title, such as my-blog-post-title) is automatically inserted into the generated content. This is expected behavior tied to the Dynamic Keyword Nesting (DKN) system, which uses your slug as a structural reference during content generation.

While this helps Content Genius align the output with your target URL and keyword structure, it can produce unwanted text in the final draft if you do not need the slug displayed in the content body.

⚙️ Why Does This Happen?

Content Genius uses the slug you provide as a content signal. During generation, the DKN system may surface that slug directly inside the output — typically near the top of the article or within the first heading block. This is not a bug; it is an automatic behavior designed to reinforce topical relevance. However, it is fully avoidable using either of the two methods below.

✅ Method 1: Prevent the Slug via Your Prompt

The quickest way to stop the slug from appearing in your content is to explicitly instruct Content Genius to exclude it in your generation prompt. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Left sidebar → Content and open Content Genius.
  2. Set up your blog topic, target keyword, and any other inputs as usual.
  3. In the Additional Instructions or prompt customization field, add a clear instruction such as: Do not include the slug or URL string in the body of the content.
  4. Run the generation. Content Genius will follow your instruction and omit the slug from the output.

This method works best for one-off blog posts or when you want full control over each generation without changing your default workflow.

🗂️ Method 2: Create the Blog from the Content Genius Tab

If you consistently experience slug auto-inclusion, the way you initiate blog creation may be contributing to the behavior. Using the dedicated Content Genius tab workflow gives you more control over what signals are passed into the generator.

  1. Navigate to Left sidebar → Content and select Content Genius.
  2. Instead of importing or linking an existing URL or slug, start a new blog document directly from within the Content Genius interface (What are we writing today?) by clicking Write an article.
  3. Enter your blog title and target keywords manually without pasting a pre-formed slug into the slug field, or leave the slug field blank until after generation is complete.
  4. Complete the remaining inputs and generate your blog post.
  5. Once the content is generated and finalized, add or edit the slug field separately before publishing.

By decoupling the slug input from the generation step, you prevent the DKN system from referencing it during content creation, which eliminates the auto-inclusion behavior.

✏️ What If the Slug Already Appeared in My Content?

If you have already generated a blog post and the slug is present in the output, you can resolve this quickly:

  • Open the generated document inside Content Genius.
  • Use the in-editor search (typically Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to locate the slug text.
  • Delete or replace the slug with your intended heading or introductory text.
  • Re-run the generation for that section only if needed, using the Additional Instructions field to exclude the slug.

💡 Quick Comparison of Both Methods

  • Prompt-based prevention — Best for individual posts; add one line to your prompt to exclude the slug each time.
  • Content Genius tab creation — Best for an ongoing workflow; leave the slug field blank during generation and add it afterward to avoid auto-inclusion entirely.
