The Report Builder in Search Atlas lets you add custom text blocks to your client reports — such as introductions, section headers, commentary, or disclaimers. This article explains how to access this feature so you can personalise your reports quickly and confidently.
How to Add Custom Text in the Report Builder
Custom text can be added directly inside an open report in the Report Builder. To get started:
- Navigate to Reports from the left sidebar.
- Open an existing report or create a new one.
- Once inside the report editor, look for the option to add a text or custom text element to your report. This option is available within the editing interface when a report is open.
- Select the text element and insert it into your report at the desired position.
- Click on the inserted block and type or paste your content directly into it.
If you cannot locate the option to add a text element, make sure you have a report open in editing mode rather than viewing the Report Builder dashboard. The ability to add elements is only available once a report is open for editing.
Common Uses for Custom Text Blocks
Custom text blocks are a flexible way to make your reports more professional and client-ready. Here are some popular ways to use them:
- Report introduction: Add a welcome message or brief summary of the reporting period at the top of the report.
- Section labels: Insert headers between data sections to organise the report clearly for clients.
- Contextual commentary: Explain what specific metrics mean or why results changed during the period.
- Disclaimers or notes: Add any standard legal text, data source notes, or next-step recommendations at the bottom of the report.
- Agency branding copy: Include a short agency bio, contact details, or a call-to-action for your clients.
