📊 Why dashboard metrics can differ
Publisher website metrics in Search Atlas come from scheduled data collection. Numbers on your own site, in analytics, or in a publisher report can update before the dashboard does. A short delay does not mean your website was evaluated incorrectly. It usually means the latest snapshot has not finished syncing.
A comparison is reliable only when both sides use the same domain, date range, and metric. Traffic, rankings, impressions, and authority-style scores are not the same measure and should not be compared directly.
🔍 Checks before you compare numbers
- Domain: Confirm the exact property, including www, https, and any subdomain. A close variant is treated as a different site.
- Date range: Use the same start and end dates. Partial months and time zones can change totals.
- Metric name: Match the same measure. Visits, clicks, impressions, and estimated scores are calculated differently.
- Filters: Clear extra filters such as country, device, or page group unless the other report uses them too.
- Recent changes: New pages, redirects, or a domain move may not appear until the next collection cycle.
🚀 How to get the latest figures reflected
- Open the publisher website in your Search Atlas dashboard.
- Confirm the domain and the reporting dates you want used for the evaluation.
- If that site shows a refresh, sync, or update control, run it once.
- Return after the update has had time to finish. Reloading the browser by itself does not pull new source data.
- Compare again with the same dates and the same metric names.
Most gaps close after the next successful sync. Repeating a refresh does not force the outside data source to update faster, and it can make it unclear which snapshot you are viewing.
⚙️ Why numbers can still differ
- Estimates: Some third-party metrics are modeled rather than copied from your analytics.
- Filtering: One report may include bot or spam traffic that another report removes.
- Timing: Clicks and conversions can be assigned to different days.
- Coverage: Very new, blocked, or noindex pages may be missing from the latest site snapshot.
- Older session: A cached dashboard view can keep previous totals until you reload after the sync completes.
For an accurate evaluation, use the figures shown after the latest completed sync. Do not mix a live analytics export with an older dashboard total.
💬 When to contact support
Reach the team if the correct domain and dates are selected, a sync has already completed, and the same metric is still far from the source you trust. Include the site URL, metric name, date range, dashboard value, and source value.
