If you click Optimize Campaigns in the Google Ads (OTTO PPC) section and see the message "Required playbook not available", this article explains what it means and what to do next.

What does "Required playbook not available" mean?

Optimize Campaigns starts an OTTO PPC Google Ads audit and optimization playbook. The message means Search Atlas could not find that playbook in its playbook catalog at that moment. It does not mean that your Google Ads account is unavailable, and it does not mean your Google Ads add-on was not applied to your plan.

Why does this happen?

This error was caused by a known issue in which a renamed playbook could not be matched by its old name. A fix was made so the lookup tolerates renamed playbooks and shows a clearer "unavailable" state. The error can still appear if the platform has not yet received the latest update or if the playbook entry is missing from the catalog.

What can I try?

  1. Refresh the page and open your Google Ads campaigns again.
  2. Try Optimize Campaigns again.

If the message returns, the problem is on the Search Atlas side and cannot be fixed from your Google Ads account or settings.

What should I send to the team if it keeps happening?

Reach the team through live chat and include:

  • The name of your Google Ads account or campaign.
  • A screenshot showing the exact message.
  • The time you clicked Optimize Campaigns.

This lets the team check whether the playbook is missing from the catalog for your account and fix it.
