🔍 Overview
Search Atlas allows you to connect Google Ads accounts to power its PPC and OTTO PPC features. If you or your clients operate more than one Google Ads account — potentially under different email addresses — it is important to understand how account mapping works and what is currently supported.
⚙️ How Google Ads Account Connection Works
Search Atlas connects to Google Ads through a Google OAuth login. When you authenticate, Search Atlas links the Google Ads accounts accessible to the Google profile you sign in with. Here is what that means in practice:
- One Google login per connection: Each OAuth connection is tied to a single Google account (e.g., jon@builda.space). Ads accounts visible to that Google login will be available inside Search Atlas.
- Multiple Ads accounts under one login: If your Google account has access to several Google Ads accounts (for example, via a Google Ads Manager Account / MCC), all of those accounts will appear and can be selected inside Search Atlas.
- Different email addresses: If your Ads accounts are managed under entirely separate Google logins (e.g., jon@builda.space and another@example.com), you will need to connect each login individually.
🛠️ How to Connect a Google Ads Account
- Log in to your Search Atlas workspace.
- Navigate to Ads from the left sidebar.
- Click Connect Google Ads and follow the OAuth prompts.
- Sign in with the Google account that has access to the Ads account you want to manage.
- Grant the requested permissions and return to Search Atlas — your Ads account will now be linked.
➕ Adding a Second Google Ads Account Under a Different Email
If you need to manage Ads accounts that belong to different Google logins, follow these steps for each additional account:
- Go to Ads from the left sidebar inside Search Atlas.
- Navigate to Site Metrics → Site Explorer (GSC Sites List) and look for the Connect GSC Account / Connect GA Account buttons.
- Complete the OAuth flow using the second Google email address.
- Once connected, you can switch between the mapped accounts within the platform.
Important: Each Google Ads account must be correctly mapped to the right business or client workspace inside Search Atlas. Incorrect mapping between accounts can cause campaign data to appear under the wrong project. Double-check your account selection after connecting to confirm the correct account is active.
💡 Tips for Keeping Multiple Accounts Organised
- Use a Google Ads Manager Account (MCC): If you manage Ads for multiple clients, consider consolidating access under a single MCC. This lets you connect one Google login and access all client accounts from one place in Search Atlas.
- Label your connections clearly: When naming projects or workspaces in Search Atlas, include the client or brand name so it is easy to identify which Ads account is linked.
- Verify account mapping after connecting: Always review which Ads account is selected for each workspace or project to avoid cross-account data mix-ups.
- Reconnect if access changes: If permissions are updated or an account is transferred between Google logins, you may need to disconnect and reconnect the OAuth integration.
⚠️ Known Limitations
- Each OAuth connection is scoped to the Google profile used during login. Ads accounts not visible to that Google profile will not appear in Search Atlas.
- Account mapping across multiple businesses under the same Search Atlas account requires careful setup — confirm each project is linked to the correct Ads account before running campaigns.
- Migration of existing Google Ads campaigns from an external platform (such as a third-party CRM) into native Search Atlas campaigns is not supported through a direct automated migration at this time.
