🔍 What Happened
Some customers noticed unexpected otto_prod parameters added to their Google Ads campaign tracking templates after connecting their accounts to OTTO PPC. These parameters were injected automatically by OTTO PPC and were not added manually by you or your team.
This was caused by a bug in which OTTO PPC incorrectly applied its internal tracking tokens to imported campaigns — campaigns that should have remained untouched. Search Atlas has identified this issue and deployed fixes to prevent it from happening going forward.
✅ What Has Been Fixed
Our engineering team has resolved the underlying issue. OTTO PPC no longer incorrectly injects otto_prod tracking parameters into campaigns that were imported into OTTO PPC rather than created by it.
⚙️ How to Audit Your Campaigns
Even with the fix in place, we recommend auditing your Google Ads campaigns to confirm no unexpected tracking parameters remain. Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Google Ads account.
- Navigate to Campaigns and select each campaign you manage through OTTO PPC.
- Review the tracking template settings for any values containing otto_prod that you did not add yourself.
- If you find any unexpected parameters, manually remove them or update the tracking template to your preferred value and save the changes.
- Repeat this check at the ad group and individual ad level, as tracking templates can be set at multiple levels in Google Ads.
🚫 How to Prevent This in the Future
The platform-level fix described above is your primary protection. In addition, consider this best practice:
- Review tracking templates after connecting a new account: Any time you connect a Google Ads account to OTTO PPC, check your tracking templates in Google Ads to confirm no unintended changes were made.
