AI Visibility groups the queries it tracks into two categories, broad and branded. This article explains what you can and cannot change about a query's category today.

Can I change a query from Broad to Branded?

Not at the moment. The AI Visibility screen does not let you change the type of a query. There is no setting on the query that switches it between broad and branded.

Why does one of my own queries show as Broad when it should be Branded?

Queries that you add yourself can be classified as broad even when they are really about your brand. When this happens, the broad visibility numbers can look higher than they should, because those queries are counted in the broad group.

Our product team has received a request to let customers classify a query as branded and to recalculate the results afterwards. That request is still in review, so we cannot confirm a release date or that it is available yet.

What should I keep in mind when reading my visibility results?

  • If you added branded queries yourself, remember that some of them may be counted as broad.
  • Compare the broad and branded groups with this in mind, instead of treating the split as final.

What should I do if the Broad and Branded split looks wrong for my project?

Reach our team through live chat and tell us the project name and the queries that look misclassified. This helps us show the product team real examples. Please include a screenshot of the query list.
