📌 Overview
AI Visibility helps you track how your brand appears in AI-generated answers. Each account has a limit on how many projects you can track and a monthly AI Visibility credit allowance based on your plan. This article explains how those limits work, how to check yours, and how to get the most out of them.
❓ What Is a Topic?
A topic is a subject or theme you want to monitor in AI answers, such as a product category, a service, or a question your customers ask. Each topic groups together the queries (the actual questions or prompts) that are checked on your behalf.
- Topic: the theme you track, for example "email marketing software".
- Query: an individual question or prompt related to that topic.
- AI Visibility credits: the monthly allowance your plan gives you for scans. A scan costs one credit for each active query you added, for each AI platform selected. Auto-generated queries run but do not use credits.
🔢 How Many Topics Can I Add?
How many projects you can track, and how many AI Visibility credits you receive each month, depends on your Search Atlas plan. Compare plans on the pricing page, because a higher plan does not always include both more projects and more credits. The most accurate numbers for your account are the AI Visibility Projects and AI Visibility Credits figures shown in the Quotas menu.
Your project limit and your monthly AI Visibility credit allowance are separate. You might still have room to track another project but have used most of your credits, or the other way around.
🔍 How to Check Your Current Limits
- Log in to your Search Atlas account.
- Open the AI Visibility section from the main navigation.
- Open the Quotas menu in the header and check the AI Visibility Projects and AI Visibility Credits rows. They show how many tracked projects and how much of your monthly credit allowance you have used.
- To confirm what your plan includes, open the pricing page and compare the AI Visibility projects and credits listed for each subscription.
If you cannot find a usage indicator, the chat team can confirm your exact allowance for you (see the last section).
🚧 What Happens When I Reach the Limit?
When you reach your AI Visibility project limit, you cannot track another project until you deactivate AI Visibility for one or move to a plan that allows more projects. Your existing projects and their data stay in place. A project covered by your OTTO subscription for that domain does not count toward this limit.
AI Visibility credits are not currently charged for scans, so running out does not pause scheduled scans. When credit charging is on, scheduled scans for projects that include queries you added pause until your monthly allowance refreshes, you buy a top-up, or you upgrade. Projects that only use auto-generated queries keep updating, and your existing results remain available to view.
💡 Tips to Make the Most of Your Limits
- Focus on high-value topics. Start with the products, services, or questions that matter most to your business.
- Avoid overlapping topics. If two topics cover nearly the same idea, combine them into one.
- Remove topics or queries you no longer need. Deleting queries you added lowers how many credits each future scan uses. For auto-generated topics and queries, the delete action turns them off for your account instead of permanently deleting them.
- Review results regularly. Keep topics that give useful insights and replace those that do not.
- Plan before adding. Write a short list of priority topics first so you do not use up your allowance on low-impact ones.
⬆️ Need More Topics or Queries?
If your current plan does not give you enough room, you can upgrade to a plan with a higher allowance. Open the pricing page to compare options. Changes usually apply to your account once the upgrade is complete.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues
- I cannot add a new topic. You have likely reached your topic limit. Remove an unused topic or upgrade your plan.
- My queries are not running. Your query quota may be used up. Check your usage and see whether it refreshes soon.
- The limit shown looks different from what I expected. Your plan may have changed recently. Check your current subscription in your billing settings.
- I removed a topic but still cannot add one. Refresh the page and try again. If it still does not work, contact the team through chat.
