🎥 How to Create a Loom Video for Support

Record, edit, and share a Loom screen or camera video so the support team can see exactly what's happening on your end.

🔧 Step 1: Install Loom

Download Loom: Go to loom.com and click Get Loom for Free. Follow the prompts to create an account if you don't have one.
Install the Loom Chrome extension (optional): For quick access, install the Loom extension from the Chrome Web Store, or download the Loom desktop app for Mac or Windows.

Once installed, Loom is ready to launch from your desktop or browser toolbar.

Open the Loom app or extension: Launch Loom from your desktop, or click the Loom icon in your Chrome browser.
Log in: Sign in with your credentials, or create a new account if you haven't already.

You'll land on the Loom home screen, ready to configure a new recording.

Choose a recording mode:
- Screen + Camera: Records your screen and camera feed simultaneously (you can reposition the camera overlay).
- Screen Only: Records your screen without the camera.
- Camera Only: Records just your camera without capturing the screen.
Select the screen area: Choose to record your entire screen, a specific application window, or a specific Chrome tab.
Choose your audio input:
- Select your microphone and confirm it is working if you want to include a voiceover.
- Test the microphone level to ensure good sound quality before you start.

Your settings are saved automatically and apply to your next recording.

Click Start Recording: After configuring your settings, click the red Start Recording button.
Select your screen area (if prompted): Choose which screen or window to record, then click Share.

Loom begins the countdown immediately after you click Share.

Countdown timer: Loom displays a 3-second countdown before recording starts — use this time to get ready.
Record your content: Narrate as needed, click through screens, and present the issue or content clearly.
Pause or restart: Use the Loom toolbar to pause, restart, or cancel the recording at any time.

The Loom toolbar stays on screen during recording so you can control the session without stopping.

Finish the recording: Click the green checkmark or the Loom icon to stop recording.
Preview your video: Your video automatically uploads to Loom's cloud storage and opens in a new browser tab for review.

You'll see your video fully uploaded and ready to edit within a few seconds.

Trim or edit: Use Loom's editing tools to trim unnecessary parts from the beginning, middle, or end of your video.
Copy the link: Copy the shareable link, or adjust the privacy settings to control who can view the video.
Share: Paste the link into an email, chat message, or support ticket.

Anyone with the link can watch your video immediately — no Loom account required to view.

Title your video: Give the video a clear, descriptive title for easy identification later.
Organize: Move the video into a Loom folder to keep your recordings tidy.

Your Loom library is searchable by title, so a clear name makes recordings easy to find later.
