🤖 Does OTTO Recrawl My Site Automatically?
Yes — OTTO automatically recrawls and reprocesses every connected project once per week. You do not need to take any action to trigger this. The weekly review runs in the background without any manual intervention required.
🕐 When Does the Weekly Recrawl Happen?
OTTO runs its automatic weekly recrawl and reprocess cycle every seven days from the date your project was last processed. The crawl does not run at a fixed clock time visible to users — it is queued and executed by OTTO's internal scheduler, typically within a standard business processing window. Because exact timing can vary slightly based on server load, you may notice the updated results appear at different times of day from week to week.
To check when your project was last processed, go to OTTO SEO → Site Audit → Overview (Website Overview) and look at the Last Crawled timestamp, or OTTO SEO → Site Audit → All Audits (Site Audit) where each site card shows the Last crawl timestamp.
⚡ How to Manually Trigger a Recrawl or Reprocess
If you cannot wait for the automatic weekly cycle — for example, after publishing a batch of fixes or launching new content — you can manually trigger a recrawl or reprocess at any time:
- Open the OTTO section from your Search Atlas dashboard.
- Select the project you want to recrawl.
- Click the Recrawl or Reprocess button located in the project toolbar at the top of the page.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
OTTO will queue the request immediately. Depending on your site size, the crawl may take a few minutes to several hours to complete. You will see the Last Crawled timestamp update once the cycle finishes.
✅ What Happens After the Recrawl Completes?
Once OTTO finishes the recrawl and reprocess cycle — whether automatic or manual — the following occurs:
- Issue detection refreshes: OTTO re-evaluates your site against all active SEO rules and updates any previously detected issues.
- Resolved issues are marked closed: If OTTO confirms that a fix has been successfully implemented, the corresponding issue status updates automatically.
- New issues are surfaced: Any problems introduced since the last crawl are flagged and added to your active issue list.
- Scores and recommendations update: Your overall site health score and prioritised recommendations reflect the latest crawl data.
You do not need to refresh the dashboard manually — OTTO updates your project view once processing is complete.
