Add a Site for GSC Performance Tracking Only

Overview

Search Atlas gives you two distinct ways to add a website to the platform. The first is a full OTTO SEO project, which enables AI-driven SEO automation. The second — covered in this article — is adding a site purely for GSC Performance tracking inside Site Metrics. This lighter option is ideal when you only want to monitor Google Search Console data such as clicks, impressions, average position, and CTR, without activating an OTTO project.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure you have a Google Search Console property already set up and verified for the website you want to track.
  • Confirm your Google account (the one connected to Search Atlas) has access to that GSC property.
  • You do not need to install the OTTO site tag or complete any technical SEO setup for this workflow.

Step 1 — Open Site Metrics

In the left sidebar, navigate to Site Metrics. This section is where GSC-connected properties are managed independently of OTTO projects.

Step 2 — Add a New Site for GSC Performance Only

  1. On the Site Metrics page, locate the option to add a new site.
  2. When prompted, choose to add the site for GSC Performance tracking only — this is distinct from creating a full OTTO SEO project.
  3. Connect your Google account that has access to the GSC property you want to import, and select the relevant property.
  4. Complete the setup to finish adding the site.

Step 3 — Access Your GSC Performance Data

After the site is added, it will appear in your Site Metrics site list. GSC data — including clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position — will begin populating based on what is available in your connected GSC property. From Site Metrics, you can explore the available performance sub-sections to monitor rankings and keyword data.

Key Differences: GSC-Only Site vs. OTTO SEO Project

  • A GSC-only site is added through Site Metrics and focuses entirely on performance data imported from Google Search Console. No automation is activated.
  • An OTTO SEO project enables AI-driven SEO automation and requires additional setup such as installing the OTTO site tag.
