A recent OTTO SEO update temporarily removed the ability to manually edit fields where the AI had not yet generated a suggestion (blank or 0-suggestion fields). This affected Meta Titles, Meta Descriptions, and Headings. This capability has been fully restored. You can now manually enter your own content for any field where OTTO has not produced an AI-generated suggestion.
🛠️ How to Manually Edit a Blank Suggestion Field
- In the left sidebar, navigate to OTTO SEO → SEO Automation (or go directly to /seo-automation-v3).
- Find the page or URL that contains a blank or empty suggestion for a Meta Title, Meta Description, or Heading.
- Click on the empty suggestion field. An editable input box will appear.
- Type or paste your desired content directly into the field.
- Click Save (or press Enter, depending on the field type) to apply your changes.
Important: If you paste a value that exactly matches the title or tag already live on the page, the save may appear to complete without any visible change. This is expected behaviour — the system recognises the content is already live and no update is needed. If you want to confirm the save was applied, try a slightly modified version of the text, or refresh the page to verify the current live value.
📋 Which Fields Support Manual Editing
- Meta Titles — editable on any page where OTTO has not generated a suggestion.
- Meta Descriptions — editable on any page with a blank suggestion slot.
- Headings (H1, H2, etc.) — editable when no AI suggestion has been produced for that heading field.
💡 Tips for Getting the Best Results
- Let OTTO generate first where possible. AI-generated suggestions are based on your page content and keyword data. If a suggestion is blank, give OTTO a moment — it may still be processing, especially on newly added URLs.
- Use the empty-state nudge. When a field is blank, OTTO now displays a prompt to help guide you. You can choose to wait for AI generation or fill in the field manually straight away.
- Keep content within recommended limits. Meta Titles should be 50–60 characters, Meta Descriptions 120–160 characters, to avoid truncation in search results.
- Manually entered content is not overwritten by OTTO. Once you save a manual edit, OTTO will not replace it automatically with an AI-generated version unless you explicitly trigger a regeneration.
