If you imported a site into Website Studio using a ZIP or HTML upload, Visual Edit is not yet available for that project. This article explains what's happening and gives you two ways to keep editing today.
🔍 What's Happening with Visual Edit on Imported Projects
When you import a site into Website Studio via ZIP upload or HTML upload, the Visual Edit feature stays disabled for that project. There is no error message — the option is simply not available.
For imported projects, this means you currently cannot use Visual Edit to:
- Select elements inline on the page
- Edit text directly in the visual preview
- Apply style or colour changes through the visual editor
Who's affected: only projects brought into Website Studio through ZIP or HTML upload. AI-generated projects created inside Website Studio are not affected and support full Visual Edit.
🛠️ How to Edit Your Project Right Now
You have two reliable options depending on whether you've already imported the site.
If you haven't imported yet and need Visual Edit
Create the site as an AI-generated project in Website Studio instead of importing it via ZIP or HTML. Visual Edit is fully functional on AI-generated projects, so you can select elements, edit text, and change styles inline.
If your project is already imported
- Open your imported project in Website Studio.
- Use the available code / HTML editing options to make your changes.
- Save your edits as usual.
These are partial workarounds. Full Visual Edit parity for imported projects is not yet available, so inline visual editing on those projects will not work until the update ships.
