When a Google Search Console (GSC) property appears greyed out in the Search Atlas Report Builder, it means the platform cannot confirm that you have sufficient ownership access to that property in GSC. Until ownership is verified, the property remains unavailable for use in your reports.
This article walks you through why this happens and what to check when it occurs.
🔎 Why Is My GSC Property Greyed Out?
Search Atlas requires verified ownership of a GSC property before it can pull data into the Report Builder. A property becomes greyed out when one or more of the following is true:
- The Google account connected to Search Atlas does not have the required ownership level in GSC.
- The GSC property was added to your Search Atlas account but the Google account used during OAuth does not match the owner account in GSC.
- Ownership was granted after the initial connection was made, so Search Atlas has not yet re-verified permissions.
- The GSC property has not completed its verification process in Google Search Console.
✅ What to Check
- Confirm your GSC ownership level. Log in to Google Search Console and open the property in question. Make sure the Google account connected to Search Atlas has owner-level access. If it does not, ask the current owner to upgrade your permission level.
- Verify which Google account is linked to Search Atlas. Confirm that the Google account authorized via OAuth in Search Atlas matches the owner account shown in Google Search Console. A mismatch between the two accounts is a common cause of the greyed-out state.
- Ensure your GSC property verification is complete. In Google Search Console, confirm that the property in question has passed all required verification steps. An unverified or partially verified property may appear greyed out in Search Atlas.
