Feature-Level vs Account-Level Quotas
Search Atlas has multiple types of quotas, and each feature consumes a specific type. You may have plenty of one quota type while another is exhausted.
Why You're Seeing "Quota Exhausted"
The most common reason: the feature you're trying to use consumes a different quota type than the one you're checking. For example:
- "Optimize this Page" in Content Genius uses AI Generation Points
- Local SEO Heatmaps use Local SEO Points
- OTTO automations use Hyperdrive Credits
- GBP Posts use AI credits (4 per post)
So if you have 2,000 Local SEO Points remaining but 0 AI Generation Points, the "Optimize this Page" button will show "Quota Exhausted" — because it needs AI Generation Points, not Local SEO Points.
How to Check Your Quotas by Type
- Click your profile icon (top-right corner)
- Go to Billing
- Navigate to the Plans & Top-ups tab — each quota type shows its own used/total bar
Quota Types at a Glance
| Quota Type | Used By |
|---|---|
| AI Generation Points | Content Genius, "Optimize this Page," AI writing features |
| AI Premium Points | Advanced AI features (OTTO AI Agent, Content Planner AI) |
| Local SEO Points | Heatmaps, Local SERPs, Local Citations |
| Keyword Rank Tracker | Tracked keywords across projects |
| GBP Automation | Automated GBP posts, reviews, Q&A |
| Hyperdrive Credits | OTTO optimizations, link deployments |
| URL Indexer | Indexing requests to Google |
Special Case: I Purchased a Top-Up But Still See "Quota Exhausted"
If you've just purchased an AI top-up (for example, 500 AI credits) and the system is still blocking usage with a "Quota Exhausted" error, this is a known backend sync issue where the top-up credits aren't being recognized by the feature's quota check.
What to do:
- Contact support and mention that you purchased a top-up but are seeing a quota exhausted error.
- Support will escalate the case to our engineering team (tracked internally via a Linear bug ticket) for a manual quota correction on the backend.
- Once engineering confirms the correction, support will notify you. Retry the feature on your end — it should now work normally.
No further action is required from you besides retrying after support confirms the fix.
How to Fix It
- Identify which quota type the feature needs (see table above)
- Check that specific quota in your Billing page
- If exhausted: Top up via Billing > Top-Up, or wait for your monthly reset
Still seeing the error with credits remaining (especially after purchasing a top-up)? Contact support. This is a known sync issue that requires our engineering team to manually correct your quota on the backend. Support will escalate the case and notify you once your quota has been corrected so you can retry.
