This article explains what to use in Search Atlas when you are looking for a "Share of Local Voice" (SOLV) metric. SOLV is a term used by some third-party SEO platforms to describe how visible a business is in local search results compared to competitors. Search Atlas does not have a feature called SOLV, but the Local SEO Heatmaps tool is the closest equivalent — it shows your business's local search visibility across a geographic grid, letting you see where you rank strongly and where competitors are outranking you.
📍 Where to Find It
Navigate to Left sidebar → Local → Local SEO Heatmaps. This opens the heatmap workspace where you can view, create, and manage local visibility snapshots for your GBP projects.
🛠️ Step-by-Step
- In the left sidebar, click Local to expand the Local section, then select Local SEO Heatmaps.
- To load an existing heatmap, select it from the list. To create a new one, follow the on-screen prompts to connect or select your GBP location and configure the heatmap settings.
- Once a heatmap loads, review the color-coded grid. Each grid point represents a geographic location and shows your business's approximate local search ranking for the tracked keyword at that point. Points with strong rankings indicate good local visibility; points with weak rankings indicate areas where competitors are appearing above you.
- To assess share-of-visibility across the map, look at the overall distribution of high-ranking grid points versus low-ranking ones. A high proportion of strong grid points across the coverage area is the functional equivalent of a high local share of voice for that keyword.
- Repeat this process for each keyword or location you want to monitor by creating additional heatmaps.
✅ How to Confirm It Worked
You will know you are reading the right data when the heatmap displays a color-coded grid overlaid on your target geographic area and each point shows a ranking number for the keyword you selected. If the grid does not appear, confirm that your GBP account is properly connected by navigating to the Local section of the sidebar and checking your project settings.
