Overview
Search Atlas lets you schedule and email automated Local SEO Heatmap reports directly from the Report Builder. If the business you are managing has no website, you can still create and automate these reports — but you must follow a specific setup path. Using a Google Business Profile (GBP) URL as a substitute for a website URL in Report Builder is not supported and will not work. This article explains the correct process.
How the Heatmap Report Works for No-Website Businesses
The Local SEO Heatmap tracks how a GBP listing ranks across a geographic grid. It is tied to your GBP project, not to a website. This means you do not need a website URL to generate or schedule heatmap reports. The Report Builder references your GBP project data directly.
If a website URL field appears during setup, leave it blank or enter a placeholder. Do not enter your Google Business Profile URL — that field expects a standard business website domain, and entering a GBP URL will cause the setup to fail or produce no data.
Step 1 — Confirm Your GBP Project Is Active
Before scheduling any report, make sure your business has an active GBP project inside Search Atlas.
- In the left sidebar, navigate to the GBP Projects section.
- Confirm your business listing appears under your GBP projects. If it does not, create a new project and connect your Google Business Profile.
- Once the project is active, check the Local Overview area to verify that heatmap data is already being collected. If no heatmap data appears yet, allow up to 24 hours for the initial scan to complete before proceeding.
Step 2 — Open Report Builder and Create a Report
- In the left sidebar, click Reports to go to the Report Builder.
- Create a new report or open an existing one to edit.
- If the setup flow asks for a website URL, leave this field blank. Do not enter a Google Business Profile URL. The report will still pull heatmap data from your connected GBP project.
- Add the heatmap-related report module and associate it with the correct GBP project. The exact label for this module may vary — look for options referencing local rankings or heatmap data.
- Add any additional modules you need, such as GBP performance metrics or review summaries.
Step 3 — Set Up Automated Email Delivery
Once your report is configured, look for scheduling or delivery settings within the report editor. The exact location of these controls may vary depending on your account view. In general:
- Find the report delivery or scheduling settings inside the report editor.
- Enable automated delivery and enter one or more recipient email addresses — client emails, team addresses, or both.
- Choose a delivery frequency (for example, daily, weekly, or monthly) and set the preferred day and time.
