Overview

The OTTO pixel allows Search Atlas to track your site's performance and power AI-driven SEO automation. Installing it on Wix requires a different process than WordPress or other CMS platforms. This article outlines the general approach for getting the pixel installed on a Wix site so you can get it firing correctly.

Before You Begin

  • You must have Editor or Owner access to your Wix site.
  • You need your OTTO pixel code snippet, which you can copy from within your Search Atlas account under the OTTO or OTTO SEO section.
  • Make sure your Wix site is published after installation — unpublished changes will not fire the pixel on the live site.

How to Install the OTTO Pixel on Wix

  1. Log in to your Wix account and open your site dashboard.
  2. Locate the section of your Wix dashboard that allows you to add custom or third-party code to your site. The exact location and label of this section may vary depending on your Wix plan and version — consult the Wix Help Center if you are unsure where to find it.
  3. Create a new custom code entry.
  4. Paste your OTTO pixel code snippet into the code field.
  5. Give the entry a recognisable name, such as OTTO Pixel - Search Atlas.
  6. Configure the code to load on all pages and to be placed in the head section of the page, if your Wix plan supports these options.
  7. Save your changes.
  8. Publish your site to push the changes to your live URL.

How to Verify the Pixel Is Firing

After publishing, confirm the pixel is active by visiting your live site URL in a browser (not an editor preview mode) and checking that the pixel code is present in the page source. The pixel will not fire in editor preview modes — always verify on your published, live site URL.

Common Issues

  • Pixel not detected after saving: Confirm you have published the site after saving the custom code. Changes are not live until the site is republished.
  • Code added but not appearing in the page source: Check that the code was saved correctly and configured to apply to all pages. Re-open the custom code entry to verify the snippet is still present and was not lost during saving.
  • Wix plan limitations: Some Wix plans restrict the ability to add custom code. If you do not see an option to add custom code, you may need to upgrade your Wix plan. Check the Wix Help Center for details on which plans support custom code injection.
