This article explains how to deactivate a team member who no longer needs access to your Search Atlas account and how to invite a new user to take their place. Follow the steps below to complete both actions safely, and use the confirmation checks at the end to make sure everything went through correctly.
🛠️ Step-by-Step
- Log in to your Search Atlas account and open your account or workspace settings. This is typically accessible from your profile menu or a settings icon in the main navigation.
- Locate the Team or Team Members section within settings.
- Find the team member you want to remove. Click their name or row to open their profile or options menu.
- Select the option to Deactivate or Remove the user. You may be prompted to confirm this action — confirm to proceed. Deactivating a user revokes their login access without permanently deleting their historical activity.
- Once the user is deactivated, return to the Team or Team Members section and look for an Invite or Add Team Member button.
- Enter the new team member's email address, assign them the appropriate role or permission level, and send the invitation.
- Notify the new team member to check their inbox for the invitation email and complete their account setup by following the link provided.
✅ How to Confirm It Worked
- Deactivation confirmed: Return to the Team Members list and verify that the removed user's status shows as Inactive, Deactivated, or that their name no longer appears in the active members list. If you attempt to have them log in, their credentials should be rejected.
- Invitation confirmed: The new team member should appear in the Team Members list with an Invited status immediately after the invitation is sent. Once they accept and complete setup, their status will update to Active.
- Access confirmed: Ask the new team member to log in and verify they can access the areas of the platform appropriate to their assigned role.
If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type human teammate to be connected with a member of our team.
