🔒 Meta Tag Verification and Feedback

Last updated on Nov 04, 2026

📌 What this article covers

This article explains Search Atlas publisher policy on meta tag verification when you add or replace a site, and how suggestions such as a meeting request or an alternate verification method are handled. It reflects the guidance our support team gives customers on this topic.

🔒 Meta tag verification is required

Meta tag verification confirms that you control the site you want to add. It is required for standard publisher accounts. VIP publishers, designated by approved staff, do not place the meta tag and their sites are not held for that check.

Meta tag verification is waived for publishers that approved staff mark as VIP. It is not waived by proposing a different check, such as verifying only a limited number of sites. A standard publisher still has to place the tag, but only one approved site must be verified to finish onboarding. Other sites can be verified later.

  • If your account is not VIP, complete meta tag verification for each site you want to make live. Sites you have not verified stay pending and are not in the marketplace. VIP accounts do not complete this step.
  • Approved staff can turn meta tag verification off for an account by marking the publisher as VIP, and they can also set an individual publication to active without the tag. Publishers cannot do either of these themselves.
  • Ideas to replace the meta tag with another method are treated as product feedback, not as an approved workaround.

💡 If you want a different verification method

You are welcome to share suggestions, including proposals such as a three-site verification approach or adding sites without the meta tag. Those ideas can be passed to internal teams for review.

Sharing feedback does not change the current rule and does not commit the team to adopt a proposal, schedule it, or treat it as a temporary exception. Meta tag verification remains required for standard accounts unless staff marks the publisher as VIP or activates the site directly.

📅 Meetings and calls

We do not have the option to schedule calls or meetings to discuss product ideas, publisher policy, or meta tag verification. A request to meet cannot be booked through support.

Send your suggestions in writing through the in-platform chat instead. Support can forward that feedback to the internal teams. Forwarding is for awareness only and does not mean the request is approved.

✅ What you can do next

  1. Standard accounts should keep using meta tag verification when adding a site. There is no self-serve path that skips it. VIP accounts skip it, and approved staff can activate a site without it. Changing a site URL does not by itself create a new verification requirement.
  2. If verification says the tag was not found, fix the tag on the site you control and run Verify again. The requirement is unchanged. If the tag is found but the site fails the quality checks, it is rejected. If those checks cannot be completed, the site goes under review rather than back to a simple retry.
  3. If you want to suggest a policy change, describe the idea in chat, including any alternate verification approach. Do not expect a call or a timeline. A waiver is possible only when approved staff marks the account VIP or activates the site, and sending the suggestion does not grant that.
